Whenever we go to the beach I scan the shores and water for shells. I love sand dollars and have many of them adorning my shelves in my home. I also collect unique shells and rocks too.

I can't resist the temptation to collect shells whenever I go to the beach. I even carry a cotton bag with me so that I can fill it. I have used a lot of the shells to decorate the garden wall just to the right of our door leading into the garden. I am now trying to collect enought to decorate the opposite wall.

My husband can collect them faster than I can. when we go to the beach, my pockets are full and so are his. I have brought bags along that seem to get left in the car.

sand dollars - Sand dollars are in the Echinoid
(Echinoderms) class of marine animals.
The name "sand dollar" is a reference
to their round flat shape,
which is similar to a large coin.
I spend hours walking the beach and searching for sea shells and rocks. I like to use the shells to decorate things like plant pots and the rocks I put on my rockery. I had never heard of sand dollars so I had to look them up, they look lovely,

I used to love doing this as collecting different types of shells was very nice and interesting. I would always try and find different shells to pick up and add to my collection. It has been a long time since I have done this but may do it again this summer.

Ahhhh- much better discussion than the boogey man :) YES I do collect shells. We live about 11 miles in from some of the worlds prettiest beaches here in Southern Calif. 22 miles of Beach that is owned By the Camp Pendleton Marine Corp facility here in Oceanside, CA. We take the Motorhome out there several times a year, part at the waters edge, and walk, and walk and walk. Early mornings at daylight is the best for finding treasures. We've found lots of things down there, Beautiful star fish, sand sharks, tons of beautiful shells and Sand Dollars, Old Buoys's etc. You can walk for two (2) hours and never encounter another soul. It's wonderful and peaceful and gives you such a sense of how small we really are in comparison. It's a powerful sight!

I have to get my husband motivated to bring me to the beach soon. Walking along the shore of the ocean is great therapy for the soul.

My mother volunteers her time at the local school each friday to help make kids crafts. SHe finds her own craft patterns to use and purchases her own supplies. She also purchase the supplies for the kids. She does not get reimbursed for her money. She loves it but she has no money to spare of her own, yet she still does it. Us kids try to help her without her knowing we are doing it on purpose. So yes in answer to your question. I do collect all the seashells I can find when i go to the beach. I give them to mom for her crafts with the kids. I even pick up broken ones because she often has them qlue them in crAFTS ALSO.

I have looked and looked for sand dollars but they are really hard to find whole. I love walking the beach and searching for sea shells and rocks. I have some rocks that are just compacted sand with sea shells stuck in them. They are really interesting! I have a bucket full of shells in my front yard in the garden. :) Then I have some special ones that I keep in my house, like a huge conch shell and some hermit carb shells. :)

It is really hard to find whole sand dollars, and when you think you found one.....you pull it out of the sand and discover that it is just a piece! Grrr...people please stop stepping on them!! LOL Well, I bet that any shells and rocks that you have are beautiful!! Especially the conch shell!! :)

Yes, I love collecting shells, rocks or whatever catches my attention. I love the beach for that reason alone. Lol. I'm not exactly an avid swimmer. I only like wading in the water. I spend most of my time scouring the sand for stuff. It's really fun but then I get a really bad crick in the neck after. Ü

I have only been to the beach one time in my life and i did gather up a bunch of shells. I was going to keep them for myself but i gave them to my mom who had never been to the beach at that time. She was thrilled to get them, since then she has been to the beach finally.

I used to collect shells all the time when I was younger when I went to the beach. Now it is very rare that I will pick up shells. I don't go to a lot of beaches now that have a lot of shells. Maybe when my kids are older they will like to do that and we will start again. It was fun to collect them though when I was younger and some were very pretty.

We do. My daughter loves to so we get a big bucket and collect shells and small, interesting rocks. When we get home I'm not sure where they disappear to, though!

Who doesn't look for shells at the beach? That is the best thing to do at the beach!! I love looking in the sand for shells, and going in the water for shells. Sometimes it is disappointing when you finds a shell that is beautiful and it is broke. But, that is what makes it unique. But, to answer your question fully, yes I do collect shells when I go to the beach!! :D

Only been to the beach twice. Ever! Both times within the past 2 years. Oh my god-- How glorious and beautiful! I cannot wait to go back. The first day we got there even before we got a hotel we went straight to the beach. Within 30 minutes my daughter (she was 8 at the time) had her pockets and mine filled with seashells. We looked our darndest to find sand dollars but found none. We got a hotel right on the beach with a balcony overlooking the ocean. I felt like I was in heaven! By the end of our beach vacation we had 4 pails filled with seashells. and we even found a crab one night- My daughter loves shells.. Going again to the beach this Easter- Jekyll Island this time..

You have seen me, havent you?? I love to pick up sea shells and rocks. I dont swim so this is my normal routine. I put a bag in my pants and off I go up the beach. Early in the morning is the best time to gather larger shells
