If your child(under 5yrs) killed your small pet, would you buy them another one to pretend it came back to life? (Child thinking you brought it to the doctors to make it better when instead you got a new one)Say your child has been told many many times to leave this pet alone. While you were in another room the child did 4 steps which involved killing the pet. They brought it to you afterwards. They knew this is wrong and still did it. Any thoughts? Are they too young to know? should it be sugar coated?and no, my child didn't knock off any pets. hypothetical question.

If the child had been told over and over to leave it alone, I would not buy another pet. The kid would not have another pet for several years. If the child understands that it's wrong then I would punish the child in addition to keeping them away from pets.

Alot of serial killers had a history of killing/mistreating pets as small kids.

well to me depends on what they did, did they accidently take their fish out of the fish tank sure i would sugar coat that, step on a hamster, sure all kids accidently do things, but did they torture or repeatedly hit, kick, etc then i would not and discipline like time out would take place.
