I have always said as long as I was paying the bill I will be comfortable. I like to wear shorts and a t-shirt when I am home, so in the winter I keep my house at 70 degrees Fahrenheit, 21.1 Celsius. When I am gone or when I go to bed at night I turn the thermostat down to 65 degrees Fahrenheit, 18.3 Celsius. In the summer I keep my house at 75 degrees F, 23.8 C. What do you keep yours on?

We keep ours around 76-78 in both summer and winter. It is always cooler in the den because of the high ceiling. The fireplace comes in handy during the winter!

We have a furnacae but we only turn the fan on because we heat with wood. We we have 2 very efficient wood stoves that burn for about 50 hours on one load of wood each. Sometimes it is so hot in my house I have to open windows to cool it down. We have a propane tank that really only to heat our water so we maybe spend $300.00 per year for heating. Lot of sweat goes into chopping wood though

I live in Michigan, USA, where we have to have heating in the winter and air conditioning in the summer!! With no need to heat in the winter, I think I'm moving to Brazil!!!! :-)

In the winter we keep our house set at 69 degress F during the day (cooler if we are going to be gone for the whole day) and 63 degress F at night. In the summer we set the air conditioner at about 74 degrees F when we are home. We try to conserve energy whenever can.

I am always so warm ! I keep the thermostat at somewhere between 66 and 68 usually. Right now we've had really cold temps .... 20's and less and I still sleep with our ceiling fan on above the bed and the window opened ever so slightly. My hubby freezes LOL

I won't be posting it in Celsius, because I don't know the conversion. LOL But We have been trying to keep our house at no more than 70 degrees F. Last winter, we had it up to 78 at times, and our gas bill was outrageous!! This year it's been a lot better. Having new windows has helped a bit as well.

rizal park in manila - rizal park in manila, a famous landmark
I live in the Philippines where we only have two seasons, dry (summer) and rainy. So we don't really need to measure the temperature in our homes, though during summer we tend to keep the air conditioning unit running the whole day because the weather is so hot.

We keep ours at 70 in the summer and winter. If anyone is cold or hot, they have to use clothing or blankets/wraps to be comfortable. I actually find 70 too hot, but I have always been very hot natured. The rest of the family is comfortable at 70, so that is where we leave it.

We heat with coal but we have a heat pump as a back up. That way if the fire goes out at night, we will still be warm. We keep the heat pump set at 65 all the time.

There is no way to discern what the temperature is in the apartment. We do not have central heating and we do not use portable heaters. We are subjected to the outdoor temperature. We are fortunate that the weather in Portugal where we are located is neither bitter cold nor extremely hot. In the winter we have the sun from the time it rises til the time it sets....provinding there is a sunndy day. It warms the kitchen and living room in the morning and the bedrooms in the afternoon. However, when I was living in Maine I remember that we kept it at no more than 70º during the day and then dropped it during the night to a temperature that would not freeze the hot water pipes....about 50º, which is about what you do.. I had electric heating so it was easily controlled. When I was a kid though we only had space heaters in the dining room and the living room. These were turned off at night. My brother and I slept upstairs where little or no heat reached. We always had to undress downstairs while the heaters were still burning and then run like hell upstairs and jump into sub 0º beds. I remember we practically suffocated from the weight of all the blankets on top of us...but we were warm until morning when we had to reverse the actions. But they were good times and I love to think about them because it makes me even more appreciative of the comforts that we enjoy today.

I would be cold at 70 degrees. I like 72 to 74. Thats perfect for me. Since I live where its mostly warm all year I try to keep it at that temp all year. I remember growing up as a kid we didnt have air conditioning and it would get to 90 degrees or higher some summers. We all had box fans to sleep by at night but during the day we would all be sweating. It was quite miserable. I am very thankful for my air conditioners.

Hi there we keep our thermostat at 70 deg in the winter but we have a gas fireplace that we turn on in the mornings and evenings when we are sitting down watching tv or reading. We use air conditioning in the summer and that is set at 75 for day and night.
