Seems in a town near me, four basketball players are suspended from school and three basketball coaches have resigned. This stems from an alleged incident that occured at a hotel while on an out of town trip. Seems the boys locked one of their teammates out of a hotel room, took inappropriate pictures, and placed them on the internet. According to school officials, the boys may be "kicked out of school altogether." The news did not say why the coaches resigned. It further stated that it is not certain whether alcohol or drugs were involved and that the investigation is continuing. Get this, they spent a great deal of time on the news story discussing how this "would really leave the basketball team hurting" rather than the profound effect on these boys' lives !!! What are your thoughts?

Where are their priorities? I just hate how people do not take responsibility for their actions these days. I think it is a major problem. They seem to put the blame on someone or something else other than where it belongs. Sad too.

Exactly. Laurie said it very well in the post above. It seems athletes get special treatment lately, due to their position on the team. Gosh forbid, we can't do anything to hurt our winning streak. Then, when these kids become terrible adults, we want to throw them in the slammer (which is warrented) but could have been prevented if we had taught them responsibility and nurtured them as kids! If parents and officials would BE parents and officials, maybe our prisons woudln't be so full!
