It seems to be an annoying thing that is everywhere you go.Bathrooms and overpasses for instance always has peoples names or someone writing disscusting things about someone or something. Those are not art at all they just make you wanna rip the markers from thier hands. And thats kind of graffiti is not art at all. But I do consider some of the murals on abandoned buildings that look like they took extreme time to work on to be great works of art that the artist so graciouly gave us for free.

Surprisingly enough I have seen some graffiti that was very artistic. Why some of these guys with such good talent choose to use it defacing property is beyond me.

graffiti is indeed an art i know because I in fact a graffiti artist myself it depends more on the eyes of the beholder an the artist him/herself now wen people are making murals dont you enjoy viewing them? Now if u look at tags writin on the bathroom walls or they look rubbish its wen we call those kind of artist "toys"meaning inexperienced artist that need practice. When people spend alot of time into thier work more people would enjoy or do already enjoy viewing the writings on the wall graffiti is not only an art but a culture.

I think so. I don't think of graffiti as only art, I think it's the ultimate urban art because you can create anything you want and there are a lot of good pieces out there. Of course I'm talking about real graffitis, not those "tags" that I think are stupid and of course I like it when it's not done somewhere where it shouldn't. But I really apreciate visualizing graffitis on the streets.

Graffiti is no doubt an art. its just a matter of where people decide to put this art. but it takes alot of talent and skill to become good at it. so why not like anything else it is a form of art.

Great topic. I was asking that question myself. Graffiti is not an art ,murals are. However some of graffiti are nice and can be consider as art.

ah yes but on the other hand murals are also called graffiti. So i guess in a sense they can go either way.

I agree with you. The large murals - even if they are illegal, are art - the person has put allot of time into it and they look great because the person enjoys doing it. But the scummy nicknames that are signed averywhere are definately not, they are just bored kids trying to get attention!
