Stuffed Bell Peppers for dinner. How do I complete the meal?

I want to try this again. I didn't get any answers to my last inquiry, and the dinner is coming up soon. I want to make a romantic dinner for friend's birthday. I have decided on stuffed bell peppers and found an excellent recipe on recipezaar.com ( It seems to be excellent). However, I don't know what else to include in the menu planning. Pasta? or Veggies? Both? I assume red wine, and thought about trying oven roasted brocoli. I am not a great cook, and definitely not a planner, so any advice will be welcomed.

I am certainly not a chef but love to cook! In my opinion, if you are thinking of including pasta, make sure that you use a very "light" pasta as the starchiness of pasta may be too overwhelming. It is also very heavy and may dominate the meal. Oven roasted green vegetables sound like a good addition and maybe fresh asparagus lightly cooked and drizzled with olive oil would be complimentary. Keeping in mind that it is to be a romantic dinner, it may be worth looking on the internet for a list of foods that are considered to be aphrodisiacs. Whether it is true or not is irrelevant! But it will add a little spice to your dinner concept! It is great of you to be cooking for a friend like this..... Good luck!

She loves asparagus, and I think it is fairly easy to cook. I just need to put it in some boiling water for a quick minute, right? Or should I saute it with the olive oil in a skillet?

The dinner had to be cancelled. My ex is a great woman, but this just didn't work out. I am going to send her a gift certificate instead.

Either way will work. Or it you can roast it in the oven with some olive oil drizzled over it at like, 400 degrees.

Firstly I'd advise you to try the recipe ahead of time just to be sure, if you haven't done this already. When I was a kid, my mom always made mashed potatoes with stuffed peppers. I think that went well. You don't necessarily need another veggie because you have the pepper. Rice or pasta could also go well. What's for dessert?

I haven't given dessert a thought yet. I just finally decided on Stuffed Bell Pepper. See, this process is far above my head, but I will reach for it. Thanks for the input.

Yummy. Sounds great. If you stuff the peppers with rice - no pasta or starch. Veggies is the way to go. Otherwise serve rice. Here is an idea. bamboo shoots and water chestnuts in a nice vinaigrette as a starter. Yum.

Bamboo Shoots? Do people eat that? I will give it a try. I am thinking the asparagus would be the best option. I think she will more impressed that I know how to cut the oven on.LOL
