How do you deal with a sister in law that is SOOOO competitive when it comes to her children and how she parents? I try to ignore her and her bossyness, but sometimes the things she says realy hurt. It's like she has to prove her kids are better than mine. Her 1st one is a girl and she is 4 months older than my son, and she did not walk until she was 19 months old. Nothing wrong with her, but she was always pushing her to walk (even at 6 months), when mine on his own decided he would just get up and start walking at 8.5 months. I did not point this out to her right, but when it came to her daughter talking up a storm she said that my son was way behind and needed to be put in special classes. At a year old? He was saying mama a 2months and just kept on going on from there, but slowed down when he turned 9 months (about the same time he started walking) which is normal especialy in boys. Girls have a tendency to have better speech skill and boys motor, but geesh whats with the nagging and compitition? They are childrend. Any way she had a boy and he did the same thing as mine (exept for the walking, he did that at 13 month) and I told her every child is different, please don't compare yours to mine and yours to each other. Youll give me a complex, yourself one and the kids. Don't think she liked that. (this was after she ragged on me for ever about how bad of a mother I was for not letting my son spend a night.)

you did the right thing by telling her that every baby is different and she was/is just rude of she is going to attack you then. why do people have to judge other people if they parent their children differently? this just makes no sense to me.

Nor to me. I think they feel insecure or something along those lines. I had raised 2 younger siblings and had been taking care of children forever, so when my child came along I knew the ins and outs. She never even held a baby, much less baby sat one. I just pray for her.
