Does anyone know any good, cheap and easy methods to sooth back pain? I've been in agony around and between my shoulders and also lower down on my back. But I don't want to be lying down all day.... I don't like painkillers, because I'm stubborn. So are there any nicer ways? I've tried hot flannels and how water bottles, but they're a bit inconvenient.

Nice, no. Effective, it is if you use it. Cheap is easy. Easy, you want it fixed or do you want to suffer. Read "how to repair old injuries..." at Helium.com-Health & fitness/exercise. Good luck.

It is often difficult to pinpoint the root of low back pain, though poor muscle tone, joint problems, and torn muscles or ligaments are common causes. A herniated or slipped disc may also cause low back pain as well as sciatica, a condition where pain travels down one or both buttocks and/or legs.

If it's muscle pain, there are some great creams to relieve the pain. I use two different kinds, one your basic Bengay kind of rub and one a honey and arnica based formula that draws out the tension in muscles and allows them to relax. I order it online from...uh... Honey Moon Farms, I think. I'll double check and gvie you the website. It's pretty cheap for what you get and how well it works.

your pain sounds like what i get after working way too many hours at the computer, especially doing mouse tasks. i get this burning almost itchy sensation right between the shoulder blades, usually more potent on one side (the side of the mouse-arm). this kind of pain is usually tendon, nerve or muscle related and can end up as tendonitis (in the shoulder). before you get to that stage (as you would need the meds after reaching painful shoulder tendonitis), try using topicals such as rubA535, which contains an extract of hot red pepper (capsicum). i wouldn't really suggest it for the lower back pain though, but oftentimes, when suffering from an upper-back pain, your lower back will suddenly go out while trying to compensate lol.
