Building fortresses

I have been building fortresses in bussiness as a means of protecting my self. But it looks like issolation exposes me to greater dangers. I had cut me off from valuable information, and made me conspicuous and a target. How do i build my allies back, can someone be my friend? I have to expand my network again. In bussiness we learn we do not fail. Please ca someone teach me how to make bussiness friendships.

I am not in business but I think maybe all you can do is build yourself a fantastic portfolio and be passionate about it then flog it to the right people in your field. I hope someone can direct you in to the right direction, good luck...
