I used to do a load or two everyday when the kids were smaller and was in my house. Now in a trailer we head off to the laundromat. We do that when we have enough money to put into the machines. So how often do you go and where do you do your laundry?

We have our own set, so I usually do a load every day or two loads every other day. I wash mine, my husband and my 1 yr old's stuff. My stepkids 15 and 12 do their own laundry - usually about once a month! Now and then I break down and do it for them. Then it's about 4 loads each.

It is good that the older kids do their laundry and now and then I don't believe it hurts to do some up for them. I miss the regularity of doing laundry and hanging it out in the air! Thanks so much for responding.

I have to say, thank goodness we own a washer and dryer!!!! I have seven children and laundry is an ongoing task. I swear! If I wait more than a day to do laundry I think that is when I can say that the mole hill has turned into a mountain!!! LOL So, at least one load is done a day, if not two. :)

Sure would have been great for me to have that many kids. It has to be so interesting and trying and fun! Laundry sure does add up! Thanks for responding.

I usually do on average I guess one load a day. Some days I don't do any but then that's just more I have to do the next. And there's only two of us! I'm very thankful for our washing machine and dryer. I hated going to the laundromat. I don't like being around a lot of people - or leaving my home unless I have too. I certainly feel for you! Love your avatar by the way. It's John William Waterhouse right? Mariana in the South? I love his work!

Thanks for responding. Actually just found that picture and not sure who it is by, it does remind me of myself so I use it here. Thanks for your sentiments, we go to this laundromat that is not normally very busy. We know to go on Wednesday, for some reason rarely is there anyone there that day. I know the pattern of getting things done today for tomorrow will bring its own challenges.

I try to do up all my laundry on Monday but then again I do my furniture throws on Monday and Friday. My daughter has 2 toddlers and she does her laundry every other day.

I forgot to add that is saves energy if you do one load in the dryer immediately after you take one load out as the dryer is already warmed up.

Hey! That is actually a pretty good tip! I just can't seem to make it to the dryer though when it buzzes. LOL And then, when I do get there, I always have to run it an additional 30 minutes. What is the point of more dry when it doesn't really dry anymore than the other setting? ha ha

Yeah, with all the pulls of day to day living unless we are waiting for it to buzz we kinda get to it when we do. At the laundromat me do pretty good though since we are right there! Prewarmed is a good tip! Thanks to both of you for responding!!

Well, when I lived in my house a year ago it was when every I needed to (a load or two a day with a baby), but now that I am in a apartment and have to go down to the laundry rooms, it like every week. It gets rather frustrating when it piles up and your home looks like a slum. My husband complains about it, but I just tell him you just need to give me the money and I will go down and do every day if need be. It would be hard, but I would do it. Also, the machines in the laundry mats are horrible;they ruin your clothes AND you have to figure out which ones work better than others. I know which ones "eat up" your clothes and which dryers take FOREVER to dry. I can't tell you how many time I went to the office and demanded my money back because I had to dry my clothes three times. They tried to tell me that I put to much in there and when I told them what I put in there they just handed over the change. Told them so.

We live in a Apt. complex, and yes they have to areas that have washers and dryers in the complex. But they are always full. So we load the car up and drive to a bigger laundromat with really big machines. Now since it is just the 2 of us we usually will take everything like every 2 weeks. It seems to work out great for us, and living in Las Vegas we never have a problem getting a roll of quarters. We have plenty of clean clothes and all to last that long. I like the laundromat as you get everything done at once, yes I wish we had a washer/dryer in our Apt. so we wouldn't have to leave and I could a load like every few days. But it has worked out just fine this way...Sometimes we go a bit longer....

We are a two week planned trip, depends on if we have the money. The roll of quarters was a funny thought! Can you gamble while you wash? Just the two of you gives you quality time. Do you wash clothing as much as she? Thanks for responding!!

I guess I'm lucky as I have my own washer and dryer. I do not miss the laundromat days. I have two males in my house so it seems like I am doing wash all the time.lol. But I have been making the 14 year old do his own wash. Its about the only chore he has.

I know that feeling 2 women and 2 men in this house and the kitchen towels, potholder, the clothing, and gloves...whew!! I actually kinda enjoy the laundromat since it all gets done in one day, drying too. My boy has a few more chores and he is a good help with laundry!!Thanks for responding!!

I do my laundry at home for the time being, as long as my washer continues to run ok...it's been making a lound whining noise. I do about 3-5 loads a day...depending on the day..always a load of towels, work clothes, and school clothes...and occasionally some blankets.. And even doing this many a day, the laundry still seems to pile up....it's crazy, but I have 4 kids, and it seems they are always changin clothes...atleast the little ones. Laundramats are quite expensive...I do not envy you having to go to them...would it be in your budget to get an apartment size washer and dryer (the stackable kind)...this may help you alot.

Thanks so much for responding! I do have a stacked apartment sized washer with dryer on top however hubby doesn't get it into the trailer to put it into place. So we go to the laundromat. Got the stack washer/dryer from the freecycle group. Wish I could get a handy guy that way! lol.

i do washing every single day, sometimes 1 load sometimes even 3, i think it's annoying in a way but my baby is very messy and her clothes get dirty within an hour of changing them.

Ooh, I remember 2 in diapers, that was sometimes maddening to change them and have to do it all over again almost immediately it seems. They are only little once, thank goodness, darn it. They do grow up so quickly! Thanks much for responding to this discussion!!

I hate laundry LOL but it seems that I can't get out of doing it, like the rest of us, LOL, and I have a least one load every day. I'm thankful that I can do mine here at home though and sorry to hear that you have to go to the laundromat. I've had to go to the laundromat before and it's a big pain. Hopefully you will be able to do yours at home before too long.

I am with you on that doing it here at home. We do make a point of having fun at the laundromat though. A treat from the machines is always welcome. I miss hanging my laundry to dry. Outside on the line in summer and indoors on racks in winter for adding humidity for our house! Thanks for responding.

We do our laundry twice a week. As we don't have kids, we need not to do more than that. Our apartment has machine, so we do it there.

Thanks for responding. I look forward to the day when it is just the two of us. Interested in seeing how my kids do their laundry when they have places of their own. Convenience of apartments is evident in the laundry facilities.

Hello Supermom!! When I was in the house the washer was a great thing. I always appreciated being able to do laundry and hanging the clothing to dry was a favorite past time for me. There got to be a pattern that was soothing in my life. Glad you have the convenience.

I'm very fortunate in that my husband prefers to do the laundry. I have some health issues that make climbing 2 sets of stairs (basement and upper floor) very difficult for me. For that reason, he started doing the laundry to help me out. He usually does a load a day, with the excess getting caught up on the weekends.

So sweet of your hubby to do this for you. Mine is similar in that he will carry the majority of the laundry to and from the van when he happens to be with me doing the laundromat thing. Do you at least fold laundry? Just curious.
