I give a good rating to anyone who has given a good answer, using good english (I know it isnt everyone's first language but I hate chat speak, etc), which is well structured and thought out. People who actually read the question and answer appropriately instead of just posting something for the money etc. I also appreciate members who start a good conversation topic that has plenty of scope for varied answers and opinions. I have only given a bad rating once and that is because I felt the member was trying to cheat other members. I too only have a low rating (four) and I think it is kind of unfair as I always try and give a good answer and take time over making it a coherent answer but I suppose some people just don't agree with my views - which is fine! I'm hoping it will start to get higher soon though!

I don't worry too much about the ratings. Keep responding to discussions as you have been; be kind, honest, and upfront. Provide as much detail as possible as it pertains to the discussion. I rate based on the quality of the response. If somebody answers with a well thought out answer or comment that is related to the discussion, they get a positive. The only negative ratings I give are for people who are cheating or copying someone else's answer, 1 or 2 word answers, or if I get a "I don't know" for a reply. It is true that some people may misuse the rating system and give you a negative rating if they do not agree with you or if you say something that they do not like. Remember, this doesn't affect your earnings, and it's just a tiny number in a star. Just do the best that you can, and have fun here.

I feel that people should not be giving a person a minus rating unless they are violating the rules of myLot, like really short answers, rude comments or copying and pasting other peoples topics or replies. They should not be giving minus ratings because you do not agree with them on certain subjects. we all have our own opinions of things and we are not always going to agree. I only give minus ratings for those violating the rules or being really rude or making short answers. I think you will be fine. The more your reply to topics the better chance of getting your rating higher.

Mylot gave you the rating and from my understanding, it is not by the ratings other people give you. It is by how much you visit mylot, the quality responses you give, and the quality of your discussions and how many responses you get for them. I would say, that since your numbers are not much over 100, which is when you start being rated, that it will go up with the more you do. Your discussions are good and your responses to my dicussions are good, just hang in there, and I bet you'll be right up there.

I decide on the rating to give based on whether or not the response or post was notable. A so so response or post gets no ranking by me. A good (well written,logical,thoughtful) response or post gets a plus. A bad (poorly written,illogical, irrational) response or post gets a minus.

I give a plus rating to anyone who puts together a well structured reply to my topics. I dont mind if they disagree, but if they become abusive or start questioning my sanity i will either give them a negative rating and maybe report them to mylot. I think we should always stay true to our feelings and post whatever the risk or danger. To do anyother is to lie to ourselves. Im sure your ratings will rise just keep on posting, im giving your discussion a plus rating anyway blessed be

I don't think its because people are giving you a negative rating. You are still a relatively new user so it will go up. Also some of your discussions only had a few replies. I have the same problem. I don't know what to do to get more replies.

your rating does not only depend on how people rate you.your rating also goes higher if you post good and quality discussions or responses.dont leave a short or stupid reply ever.just enjoy your stay here,make good posts,reply to good posts and in no time you will get a higher rating.i also started from 6 and now im 8.and it will take a little time.so be patient.

this is what i understood from mylot guidelines. users with a user rating of less than 100 will not yet have myLot reputation myLot reputation is determined by the myLot community,not user It doesn’t mean that 8 stars means “good user” and 5 stars means “bad user” only indicate how active user are increase your reputation is by contributing quality topics, responses and comments and avoid breaking mylot rules!

I always rate a positive response if I feel that the person has said something to add or help the conversation. If I get a one word or a few word responses then I give a negative. We're suppose to keep the conversation going for as long as we can and make it worth people reading.

I myself got conscious of my ratings awhile ago ,I started with a rating of 6 and what I usually do is replied to a lot of discussions as best I could. I usually write something which I feel is right, I just write honestly , what I really feel and what I knows about a discussions. I also added tags in someone's discussions. I also try to improved my replies and discussions as much as possible,I guess what you need to do is just reply and reply to any discussions suited for your taste, give honest opinion , don't be afraid and don't mind your star rating it will surely go up when you post quality post.

I don't give people negative ratings just for disagreeing with me. I will give negative rating if someone posts one or two word answers just for the extra post count (particularly if it's just "I don't know"). Also I'll give negative for needlessly rude or abusive posts.

Where do you look to find out your rating?

To be honest I only noticed the stars and learnt about the rating system today - before that I had not taken any notice of them. Now am going back through threads I have already responded to trying to post some ratings to people I remember I particularly enjoyed. And - don't worry - I am only a 5 too! Better to be honest and say what you think - then lie just to get a good rating. Take care.

I only give - ratings to people who post junk - By junk i mean one liners, useless topics, multiple topics on the same subject along with people who insult others. I give + ratings to people who make discussions that are very interesting, or at least that i think is interesting. And those who just say anything get no rating just a read by me ^-^ Well that's how i rate :P
