Own a Greyhound? Or does a Greyhound own you?

Adopting my Roxy was definately an experience! Who would have thought that such a shy animal could so quickly take over our house and our hearts. Once she realized that she had a home and a family, she made herself at home, and what a character! She was sure to let us know when she needed a new squeeky toy (objective...kill the sqeek!) and when she NEEDED a treat (C'mon, Mom, I'll show you where they are!) But mostly, she just loved having her "peoples" around. She paced when one of us was gone. There aren't many people listed here with greys as an interest...c'mon, guys, we need more discussions here! Gotta get the word out about these great animals!

I don't have a greyhound but out Akitas certainly run our house. We have 2 akitas and a dashound. All three dogs sleep in mine an my husbands bed. Many times I go to bed later than my husband and/or the dogs and Kuma our male akita has to sleep with his head on my pillow. He either sleeps right between me and my husband with his head on my pillow and our other akita at the bottom of the bed with the dashound under the covers or he gets so comfortable I end up sleeping at the bottom of the bed with the spare pillow I keep down there just for nights he takes over my side. A greyhound does not own me but our akitas and dashound sure own us.

LOL, I can identify with the bed thing! If I got up to bed too late, I tell her to Move (she would be laying with her head on my pillow, snuggled up to daddy) So I'd say "get on Roxy's side" and guess what? She closes her eyes and pretends not to hear me! Whatta brat!

I have grown up with greyhounds my whole life and they are definitely the best dogs around. I also have a black lab, but I will always have a greyhound. I have never had a rescue one only pure bread. I am sure yours have a tendacy like mine to only sleep on beds and sofas and like little queens and kings at times.
