I love gifts in a jar. I love to make them. I love to give them as gifts. I love to keep them on hand for those unexpected guests. They are so pretty to give in gift baskets. They are made in quart jars, decorate, then add the tag and some raffia and you have a very attractive gift. I like to make my gift baskets in themes. I will add a few jars of cookee gifts in a jar and top the basket with a cute cookie cutter and ribbon and it is good to go. Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix in a Jar 1/2 c Sugar 1/2 c Chopped pecans 1 c Chocolate chips 2 1/2 c Flour mixed with 1 tsp Baking soda and 1/4 tsp Salt Yield: 1 Jar Layer ingredients in order given in a 1 quart wide mouth canning jar. Press each layer firmly in place before adding the next ingredient. Don't forget to add the following tag: Empty jar into large mixing bowl, use your hands to thoroughly mix Add 1 1/2 sticks soft butter, 1 egg slightly beaten and 1 tsp vanilla Mix until completely blended--you will need to finish mixing with your hands. Shape into balls the size of walnuts Place 2" apart on sprayed cookies sheets Bake 350 for 13-15 min til edges are lightly browned--cool 5 min on baking sheet and remove cookies to racks to cool completely. Note: These cookies don't firm up until completely cooled. Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies
