On friday i went to go and see a Doctor because i was really sick and couldnt quit coughing. I am a fairly heavy smoker and i have been smoking for almost 15 years. The Doctor told me that i have a severe case of Asthma and that i have to quit smoking or i will end up in the Hospital within a month. Do you have any tips for me??? Any amount of help and support right now would be helpful i know that i need to quit for my health but i am struggling so far and it has been 2 days ... please help!!

Like you, i smoke too, and had gain asthma. I'm not telling you to quick abruptly but, little by little everyday. Say, you finish a pack in a day, then reduced to a fair amount, slowly, reduced your intake until you can manage to have a day without it. Use nicotine patches, it would be a great help, for quitters. It just needs patience and self discipline. Like me, You can do it. Act now, while you still have the lit of enthusiam with you.

You have to have determination for you to quit smoking. Think of the effects of smoking. Think of the wonderful things it brings when you stop it.

Hey. I am planning to quit smoking, so I don't have any great tips or anything, but I'd use my health condition to keep the motivation up if I were in your shoes. Also, please feel free to message me just to chat about it. I'll be a part of your support group and we can b*tch to each other about the cravings and share what works for each other. Good luck!

It is hard to quit smoking especially for you who has been smoke almost 15 years except you have a pretension and awareness from your self to think about your sickness, as you feel how the taste of that sick. You should recognize that this is might be a warning from God about your bad habbit. That depends to you how you respond the warning, and you should be confidence to remove your bad habbit and aware of the sickness.

i looked it up on the internet when i was trying to quit and i learned that the cravings only last 3 minutes. so if you can chew gum, or something with your hands for that 3 minutes, you'll be threw the craving before you even know it. I did that for 3 days, and yes i was hard to live with, but i made it! you can too!

you say smoked for 15 years and having trouble stopping try smoking for 41 yes read it right 41 best thing is to quit cold turkey the patch only feeds you nicotine so you might as well keep smoking then. if you really want to quit just do it 1 hour at a time you sleep for 8 thats a start now keep going from there cause its not easy i know cause i did it. still want a smoke once in a while won't lie to you the craving is always there. you just have to not give into it. look at it as one more day your kids do not have to breath in your second hand smoke. and when driving with window open its not good either as smoke goes to back of car where kids are but when you smoke you don't notice but believe me it does. must say i notice it more now cause i'm an ex smoker but i don't preach to a smoker if they do, i can see it from their side too as i've been there. so take it from me its not easy but can be done and you will start to feel better after 3 days from there its all down hill so to speak. it just gets better and better from there takes 3 months for lungs to clear for you to notice that you can now breath better. takes 5 years for them to come back to their bright color. something to think about while your chewing your nails. buy the way i sucked lots of hard candy... best of luck...

I don't know where you live but, in Europe the most popular way of quiting smoking is Tabecs you need to search that in the pharmacy for it.

Stopping will be hard however you can do it. Try to reduce as much as possible and try to reach for chewing gum to replace that habit. It has got ahold of you in its addictiveness so you much replace that habit and consiously reduce the number as quickly as you can. The Doctor could have offered a medical method to help you quit smoking I believe! Good luck!!

There is only one way of quiting smoking - do it in one go and then stick to it. It sounds difficult allright but u must realise that u dont have much choice. Any amount of effoort to 'reduce' the number will lend u nowhere because these numbers have an uncanny habit of climbing up again. Right now u have the perfect reason to quit so dont wait for any one else to tell u what or how to do. Just QUIT and live happily everafter.

yaa quiting from any habit is a really very difficult one but when u determine to quit u can quit,u have to do just few things for that, keep urself in a room which is full of eatable things which u like or which are ur favourites, but u didn't allow urself to go out from that room for some coming few days and don't allow anyone to meet u who is also a good smoker, whenevr u feel to smoke just go to the food which u like most and ate it,u can also have a cup of tea at that time and after two or three days u found urself that u didn't need any smoke.

When you have fever or cough, blame only smoking. Tell yourself that it was smoking makes you weak, hundred times or thousand times.

well, you have the best chances od quitting if you use these together - get ready, get support, learn new skills and behaviour, get medication & use correctly & be prepared for relapse or difficult situations.. get rid of all cigrattes and ashtrays in your home, car & place of work, don't let people smoke in your home. review your past attempts to quit think about what worked and what did not. once you quit don't smoke - not even a puff ! change your routine use different route to your work. drink tea instead of coffee. plan something enjoyable to do every day. drink lot of water and other fluids
