do you take your child to a pediatric dentist?

I have 3 children, now aged 12, 8, and 7. I think the first time I took my eldest to the dentist she was probably around 2. The dentist said this was a good age, however, I believe if you want them to get use to going, around a year would be a good age to start. Just to get them accustomed to it, so they won't be scared when they have their first cleaning or filling :)
