Does anyone do online journaling? Are sites like livejournal and xanga different than blogs? I used livejournal for a while, but I have never been good at keeping up to date.

Ah, using it for journaling a specific event is a good idea. I just used mine to update my family what I was doing while living away from them.

Online journaling was all the rage a few years ago. Almost all my friends had to have a Xanga or Livejournal to write about every minuet detail in their lives for the world to see. I never had an online journal because I never wanted to share thoughts about my life with the world. I mean you never know who's reading that stuff. A blog is different than an online journal. It's usually more "newsy" and focuses on current events or intellectual debate. I had a blog where I would comment on things in the world and give observations. Blogging is still very popular and very powerful. Many blogs reach thousands of users a day. I stopped updating my blog because, like you, I would forget or get too busy. I think the amount of people using online journals has declined, but there are still a good number who do it. The big thing now is still myspace, orkut, and facebook (among high school and especially college kids).

Yeah, now I have Facebook (my still-in-college friend made me), but I don't do much with it except keep in contact with a couple old friends, and poke my best friends a lot.
