Is It Insomnia?

For some time now I have been having a hard time getting a decent sleep or even getting to sleep for that matter. I have tried many different things from drinking warm milk before bed to reading while laying in bed. They worked for a week or so, but found myself staying up even later and just staring at the ceiling. Usually I clear my mind of everything and still have a problem. I refuse to start taking sleeping meds hence the reason I haven't seen a doctor about this. Is it possible that it may be insomnia setting in??

check out sleep apena..and or insomia..but you should see a sleep specialist for a sleep study...i too have this problem..you stop breathing when you are trying to sleep..and you wake up and are not aware of the problem..this is one reason for bad sleep hygiene.. you are right...don't go to sleep meds the first thing..most are not effective for the long run...go to the library and study the medical books on your sleep disorder or go on the internet..but in the end i believe you will have to have a sleep study done...a couple of nights in the "sleep clinic" will tell you a lot about your condition...good luck

Thanks for your tips and ideas. I have been looking into sleeping disorders here and there when I get the chance to, but I am going to scheduling myself in for a sleep clinic here soon too, because I have been noticing my patterns of sleep returning and although I do get some sleep, I'm not getting what I really need to functional within my day, so just feeling really wore out. Thanks again.

I am going through a similar thing right now myself hun..This past week I take awhile to fall asleep then after I am I'm waking up rolling over or getting up going to the washroom my doctor has wanted to put me on meds for it but I'm like I have a 15 month old at home that wakes up once in awhile in the middle of the night if she is having a rough night and I don't want to get addicted...I've noticed that even though I clear my mind that there is an underlying problem bugging me that i just haven't figured out yet that could be bugging me hugzzzz hun

Sorry for the delay in replying to you, been a bit on the busy side here. I was doing good for awhile there and did have a normal sleep schedule going on, but I am noticing that my old sleep habits are returning so I am going to schedule myself for a sleep clinic and see if that can get to the bottom of my sleep issues. Thanks for your response and again I apologize for taking so long to reply back. *Hugs*

That is understandable, I would be worried about the same thing, if I had gone through what you have. But with me I think it's the fact that my mind just doesn't shut off when it comes to bed time. I may still get sleep, but it's not enough and it's starting to effect my productivity. So yeah, even though I really don't got the money to see a doctor right now, health is important to me, and I fear if this goes on much longer I may end up hurting myself or worse my family and/or someone else.

jogging - exercising will help you get a good night's sleep
You would want to be exhausted by bedtime, so try to do some form of vigorous exercise (i.e. jogging) in the afternoon. I usually go into deep sleep when I'm exhausted.

Most the time I am exhausted before going to bed, with work and running after kids, but sometimes exhaustion isn't enough to put me to sleep, maybe for an hour, but I would just be back up. To much running through my mind, and I have tried exercise for a year it didn't help with the fact I have an over active mind.
