a friend sent this via bulletin. It's a very tragic story in my opinion. I think everyone will have an opinion about it. It's very sad. Autopsy Confirms “Aborted” Baby was Born Alive at Abortion Clinic Staff member cut the umbilical cord and placed the baby into a red biohazard bag By Hilary White MIAMI, December 4, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – An autopsy report has been released by Operation Rescue showing that a baby who died in a Florida abortion mill in July was born alive. Abortion facility staff placed the child still breathing and moving into a plastic medical waste bag. Hialeah Police had previously stated that they were awaiting the results of an autopsy on the child’s remains before pursuing possible charges. On July 20, an 18-year old woman went to a for-profit abortion facility owned by Belkis Gonzalez and Siomara Senises. She gave birth to a living baby girl while sitting in a recliner in the facility’s recovery room. The child’s mother, Sycloria Williams told police that she had watched her daughter moving and gasping for air for approximately five minutes. The Dade County Medical Examiner report dated October 28, said that the baby died of “extreme prematurity” and lists no “contributory cause.” The report lists the “manner of death” as “natural.” The report says that the child, who has since been named Shanice by her mother, then 22 weeks gestation, was delivered “and placed to the side. A staff member cut the umbilical cord and placed the neonate into a red biohazard bag.” “Witnesses, including the mother, indicate that the neonate was breathing and moving.” The report says that children born so prematurely have 0% chance of survival. “It doesn’t matter if Shanice had a 100 percent or a zero percent chance of survival. Once she was born, she was deserving of the same protections under the law as the rest of us,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “At the minimum, she should have been given comfort care. Shoving her into a plastic bag and tossing her onto a roof to die is just unconscionable.”

Oh my gosh! That is so horrible! I hate reading stories like that!!! When I was 14 years old, I had to face my mother and tell her that I was pregnant. She told me the decision was mine to make as to what I wanted to do. And I did take a considerable amount of time to research and think. But I decided to keep the baby and stayed in high school. When school started back up, I went like a regular teen and no one could tell at the time that I was pregnant. Then a history teacher gave us an assignment on a court case that change history. I chose Roe vs Wade. I did write a huge paper on both views. It had such detail about both sides that my teacher became concerned and called my mother. He expressed that he was impressed with my writing and my ability to show both sides with compassion but he was still concerned about it. But as soon as my mother explained to him that I was pregnant and was faced with the decision myself over the summer, he understood. My point is...I would never take a woman's rights away to have an abortion. But it is stories like this that just make it a horrible crime! I personally could not make that choice to have an abortion. And I hope that more people will take into account the story you gave before making the decision to have an abortion.

That must have been a really tough decision, but I bet you are glad that you made it. Your history teacher must have been baffled and didn't know what to say. But, I am glad that he understood. You are a stron women and mom Brokentia!! :)

This makes me sick! How could someone do that? How can those people live with themselves after being involved in that? I hope they get what's coming to them! What comes around, goes around. I also don't believe that you should be allowed to get an abortion that far along in the pregnancy. My view is that if you wanted one that bad, you would get it early on. Abortion should not be a form of birth control. It is a baby! It is murder!

I am not for abortion either steph, in that I myself couldn't get one. TO each his own, but I am with you...This is too far along to get an abortion, and truly should not be a form of birth control....just because you get pregnant. They should not have just put the baby in a bag! sick!

This is pretty dammed awful actually and although I can think of stronger words to use, decided to tone it down as far as I can that is. Firstly what was the girl doing having an abortion at that late stage and the fact that her mother was there with her, was even worse. Surely they all knew how far along she was and at 22 weeks it is way too late to be considering an abortion. I could not have an abortion personally but at the same time do not say that nobody should have one. There are times when the mother and/or father decide that the only option is an abortion, and that can be due to medical reasons mostly but it should not be left so late into the pregnancy. The fact is that at 22 weeks gestation the baby would have been recognisable as a baby, and irrespective of whether or not it was a miscarriage (spontaneous abortion) or an abortion, it deserved some respect. That includes a name and a decent burial, and this is regardless of whether or not it would have survived. Actually were this to happen here in Australia, including the abortion at that stage of the pregnancy, the Doctor would be charged with a criminal offence. In fact a female Doctor was changed with just the same sort of offence only last year and was banned from practicing medicine for 5 years. As the Doctor is now in her 60's it is doubtful that she will ever be re-registered as a Doctor, because the medical board would have to approve the application, and they have indicated that it will not happen. I do accept that it was the choice of the mother to have her baby aborted, but at the same time the medical clinic should take some responsibility for what they did.

Now that I have a son, this really makes me sad... ALL babies should be given a chance. I cannot imagine how this mother felt seeing her little one MOVE and breathe! Hearing these sad stories like this or even of stillborns or miscarriages, are so sad to me... i cannot imagine going through either one of them... :( I am very glad to see my son move/speak, etc everyday. :)

me 2 kyle. I can't imagine, and makes me wonder why she choose abortion so late in her pregnancy. Some way we have to educate people more. I know I'm always trying to better educate myself in such matters. I have my daughters to think about, and they are growing up fast.

How horrible. They should not be able to put anyting that is still living in a bag. It may not have been able to make it, but that was not their call to make, even if it was an abortion clinic. Why would they be doing an abortion on her if she was 22 weeks pregnant? This is wrong.

Sad is an understatement. It is so unbearable to read it, let alone know that things are happening like this every day. How can any women, and I blame the women, do this? I'm sick, and cannot even think of a reply to this inhumanity.

That is disturbing and very sad. It is more that just sad though, it is hard to describe. I really don't think that people should have an abortion, but many people do. And, the sad thing is...things like this happen. I think that 22 weeks is way to long to wait for an abortion. Wow, that would be scary!! :|
