I met many people who think lawyers are big liars. that they lie to win a case. for me there are really good lawyers and there are also those who really lie, cover a wrong just to win a case.

It is probably true that some of them may be liars but I don't think all or many of them lie just to win a case. They are very intelligent people and they know how to work their way around the system and be able to get someone off with a lighter sentence or off free. You have to have great knowledge of the court system and the law to do this job and do well at it. They are just doing their jobs to serve someone even if they are guilty of committing a job. This is why I would not want to be a lawyer as I would not want someone guilty to get off easy or at all.

There may be some who are big liars but not all lawyers. I know a few who actually evaluate the case first before deciding on handling the case. I salute lawyers who speak and defend the truth and are not blinded by the pay check they are to receive from consulting them.

The stereotype about lawyers is that they are sharks and for money will do every dirty trick to win a case .. of course that applies only to some not all lawyers .. It's their job to help their clients (even if criminals) to get minimum sentences or to set them free .. everyone is entitled to get some help if in problems with the law, that doesn't make lawyers bad.

My law professor admitedly said they need to lie sometimes to defend their clients. That's what lawyers are made and paid for!

you mean you are a law student fujin?? as a law student, have you encountered cases or read cases wherein lawyers lie in order to win a case? Do you think if you will become a lawyer you are likely to lie as well? your law professor was very honest. I admire his honesty.

Aha.. I sense someone is studying a law wanted to become a lawyer or something related to law here. lol I might be wrong, though.;) I believe lawyers are very smart people. They can turn the white to grey or black, or they can turn the black to grey or white. So, for me, they are very smart people, despite the fact that they could be too smart to do something not good (defend a rapist, for instance) I also think, most of the time; deep down inside their hearts, all the lawyers know right from wrong better than no lawyers. I don't believe all of them liars, though. But they could become one, when they want to or they think they needed to be one. :)

well that about lawyers is a cliche as any other. I am related to law world, and i can tell you that there are many liars, yes. But arent there liars in about every single place in the world? there are teachers who are liars, and cops who are liars, and bank clerks who are liars....

Lawyers don't lie as much as they omit the truth. As long as they don't incriminate their clients they do their job well.

I think that one should bear in mind that the lawyer is bound to do everything under the law to defend his/her client. And i also believe that there are more gray areas in law than black and white. So i would hold back comments on the liar part. hehe. And basically, it comes down to the job of the other lawyer to see to it that his/her client doesn't get lied to and that the other lawyer doesn't get away with it.

I look up to decent lawyers, the importance of what they do is incomparable. That's what pushed me to go to law school. I said decent because there are those who prey on the innocent to feed the money sharks in them. And those sharks who were polluting the system made me get out of the cage before I thoroughly became one of them.

90 percent of the lawyers are liars and they earn a lot and remaining 10 percent who do not lie don't earn properly.

My measure is this if I saw the lawyer is filthy rich, he is a liar, But if he is poor, he dont lie.

have anyone here heard of the fallacy called hasty generalization? yes, a fallacy. for instance, a statement that says 'all lawyers are liars', is a perfect example of a hasty generalization fallacy. i learned it from a three unit subject, logic. and i'm kinda affected to hear such statement because i'm a legal management major student and being a lawyer is one of my fondest dreams. not all lawyers are liars. they are justice's advocate. i believe that if there are instances that they lie, probably it's because they were caught between the devil and a deep blue sea.

I don't believe that all lawyers are liars. Besides, there are circumstances when a lawyer has to lie so his or her client could win. Either way, what matters is he or she is successful. I am one of the many young girls who dreams to be a lawyer. I hope I will make a difference one day. I hope I can prove them wrong.

This is why I don't believe in capital punishment, the lawyers play too many games just to win a case, they will go ahead and defend someone any way they can even though they know they are guilty...yes they lie in the games they play

In my opinion, it is not necessary that all lawyers are liars. There are some lawyers who are sincere to their profession and only work for the truth. But there are also some who work using injustice means. It is really bad to be unfaithful to ones profession.
