Sushi and sashimi!!! Whoa, I came to love Japanese Food because my job calls for it. In our company, we are compelled to like japanese food, whether we like it or not. hehehe... At least I know now how to use chopsticks and I already know how a wasabi looks like.

I like sushi, yaki soba, japanese-style curry, donburi, and the list goes on and on. There is a great mall near me that has a lot of different japanese food stands and I've been having a really fun time trying them all out. I also love mochi with ice cream on the inside for dessert.

Besides the obvious, like chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki, there's so much more to Japanese cooking than that and sushi. Sukiyaki, where thin strips of meat are cooked in wonderful broth with noodles, green onions, tofu, bamboo shoots. Another dish I love is tonkatsu, which is breaded pork or chicken and deep fry it. Tempura, vegetables battered and deep fried along with shrimp or other seafood, like fish and scallop. These are usually main dishes. Appetizers could include edamamde, soy beans in the pod. They are delicious and nutritious! Cold tofu dipped in soy sauce, bonito flakes, fresh grated ginger and green onions is a fave of mine. The best is gyoza, or potstickers. Wonton skins filled with meat and pan fried or steamed or both. Yakitori are skewered meat (chicken or beef) and grilled. The traditional method and the BEST is on charcoal, but I think they just use the broilers, now. These are some appetizers. If you are looking for specific recipes or want a list of more food, contact me. Be more than happy to share as many recipes as I can with you.

I am totally crazy about sashimi. I try to eat that as many times as I can. Of cos quality counts, so even though there are a lot of people trying to sell sashimi, only a few qualifies.

When you say Japanese Food the only thing that comes to my mind is Sushi. I once worked in a fish exporting and processing company, but never got the chance to taste raw fish with sauce. Other than that I am not familiar with the names of Japanese Food. In Sri Lanka we always go for Chinese Food.
