Is drinking beer or alcohol good or bad?

Some of my friends when they get together, they tend to drink beer. They drink ti'll they get really drunk. Me, I only drink when there is an occassion. My professors in college told us that excessive drinking can burn neurons in the brain. They said that it makes your thinking a little duller. In my opinion, people should drink at least 1 shot per day to ragulate the blood.
