Do you see lights when you close your eyes? If so, what color?

I have been seeing blue lights with my eyes shut, since the fall of 2003. Does anyone else see lights like this? I think it's a paranormal thing. If I look into it more (eyes shut), I see stars in the distance, and then start seeing dream-type imagery. I noted that doing this made my dreams almost as clear as 3D reality. I also noted that a few times it brought on a struggle with something in my dreams that felt very physical. I noted that I began to hear in my dreams, and then also, see vague blue light in the evening with eyes open. I have grown up around religious people and they think that anything like this is of the devil. Is it dangerous to look into this blue light, or not? I had some out of body experiences due to this, and it was amazing to realize a reality of life after this life, because of having a separate nonphysical body. I also liked lucid dreaming experiences. If you meditate but you acknowledge there is risk, what should I do for psychic protection before doing this? -- curious, and seeking someone who isn't going to immediately shut me down because of their religious point of view.... dancia2007

No, it is not dangerous to look into the blue light. Or for that matter, any color light you see with your eyes closed. This is known as inner light. Most people have trouble find this avenue. You seem to have opened a door. You'll notice some days the light is brighter than others. You'll also notice, when it is prevalent you can control it. As you focus your eyes on this light, you'll see it momentarily take the form of a picture-- a face or landscape, or anything. No sooner you recognize the picture it is gone. With practice you'll be able to stay calm and the pictures will last longer. At that point you'll be able to filter the images you see. For instance, you may want to see only faces or only places. Don't let anyone discourage you. This inner light is like a wild animal you must tame, but if you take the time to learn it's ways, it will become the most steadfast and reliable friend you'll ever have.

If it is not dangerous, then, does it affect your dreams in any way? If I look into that light, my dreams become very vivid, and I start getting most of the senses I would have in everyday life ... except smell. So that when I have a scary experience (like something attacking me), then I can totally feel it. I get into periods where I am enjoying it, then I back off because of scary experiences where it feels physically scary. The common advice I hear about psychic protection is imagining a white light. Is that really all there is to it? Does one do that when they go to bed, or also in the experience (hard to remember to). I usually struggle really hard to wake up to get it to stop. The last one I had to wake up three times to get it to stop. The good experiences I have had are flying through deserts feeling the wind, flying up past clouds and seeing the phone lines and then a rainbow, and flying through lush valleys. Those were enjoyable. And in general it's enjoyable watching scenery. My true issue is not so much that people will disagree (because I can keep it secret), but that of not knowing how to be safe, and not knowing who to talk to about it. The people who have answered this thread are the most people so far that I have been able to find that have an idea what I am talking about.

Hello again, and I too apologise for my slow response. Don't get too caught up in what is right or wrong in these experiences. That is the mind trying to put it's mark on your meditation. Go with the space you are having. Purple, deep blue, black are deep spaces, away from the physical arena. Exploring into these spaces note the qualities. For example you may think there is nothing in the black, but the black has a quality of say velvet. You may or may not have images, pictures. That is okay and it is not something you have to have in order for you to say your experience is right or not. The main thing is that you become aware that you are out of your ordinary sense of consciousness, you have gone inward away from the normal senses. That is meditation in it's true form. This is fantastic. Well done. It's been over a week, so how are things going now?

The real issue for me, since I can keep my interests secret from friends, is that of psychic attack. I have had many beautiful experiences due to meditation (astral travel, OBE), but the experiences where something was attacking me in dreams (felt physical) scared me from meditating. I go into periods where I meditate, then periods where I don't, because something scares me. I don't know how common this astral attack/psychic attack thing is. Does this come with the territory or am I leaving myself open in some way that I am not supposed to? I want the beautiful traveling experiences out of body but not to have feelings of something physically bothering me.

Allot seems to be happening for you. Your OBE's and Astral Traveling - fantastic, go girl! Discernment is very important and being able to maintain a sense of consciousness in these experiences. We go to all sorts of spaces and places during sleep, some good, some not so good. Being able to discern, be conscious of your travelling, helps you to steer. Dreams can mean different things, sometimes they are personal, sometimes not. Lots to see, lots to learn, but you are way ahead of most just by the fact of being conscious of it.

Citra1881 and vdosgal, So great to know someone else has similar experiences! Almost no one around me has a clue what I am talking about when I speak of metaphysical experiences or even of having all 5 senses in dreams + flying. It's a good point about staying close to God even when and especially when having those type of experiences. I would be curious to know how to stimulate other colors. I just get blue mostly, and occasionally a big purple dot. Thanks for all your responses!

Sounds like you are having a wonderful experience. I would be the LAST person to shoot you down hon. LOL I could write a book with all the experiences I've had!! (hhhmmm note to self write a book) Anyway, I agree with the previous response you third eye is becoming active the stars and the blue indicate two things. The blue is indicative of third eye activity. The stars represent your reach for the heavens and your connection to the universe. Please continue on your path. At least you are strong enough to "go against" so to speak the beliefs of your family.

So far the colors that I see change from black to gray to silver to red, to green and sometimes blue. Sometimes it feels like all my chakras are checking in saying they are ok. :-)

dancia 2007 ,i think you are religious and meditate often, you are lucky that you have seen these things, you know that god exists in every human being, infact all the universe is within you, i have read books where people share their experiences, the first thing you most often see during meditation or prayig to God is light, stars, moon too are common that you see in later stages as you progress, you may even hear sounds, like ringing of bells, but you should listen to any voice coming from right ear, i think so, if you dont have guru, search for one, for finding God is the ultimate goal of our life, i live in india in punjab , i have a guru whose domicile is in beas

I definitely won't be shutting down. The colour I see is mainly purple. Then behind the purple is a velvet black space. You may think because it's black it isn't anything, but it is certainly something. It sounds very much like your Third Eye is active. This is a metaphysical point between your eyebrows. You don't see which the physical eyes, you go inward and see using the Third Eye. The fact that you can see or know you have a non-physical, way to go! For psychic protection, one way is awareness and using your integrity and discernment. Go for the highest, cleanest you can find. Ask for help, nonphysical help that is. Be aware that there are spaces you can go that are not the best. The more you get used to this experience, the more you can navigate where to go. Perhaps you may want to separate your practices also. Meditation is meant to be a no-mind state. You are having metaphysical experiences, which is fabulous. And of course if you are having these experiences while meditating - why stop them. But they are two separate intentions. There is a saying for meditation "If you see the Budda in your meditation, shoot him". This is because meditation is meant to be a no mind state. But if Budda did visit, I'd certainly say hello.

Also the best way to protect yourself during mediation is to encase yourself in purse white light. That is the light of the Divine also say a silent prayer requesting protection.

Hi Tetchie and vdosgal, I appreciate knowing someone else has similar experiences. I would be curious to know if blue comes first and then purple, or what? And is purple better than blue (higher vibration). Occasionally I have seen a purple dot coming toward me. I've been fighting with myself whether to be interested in the blue light any more, because it makes my dreams really vivid when I encourage it, and some of them can get scary -- especially if I feel tactile sensations. But, I did feel much more alive when I knew there were two worlds, and I was conscious in each of them, with hardly any break.

Yes, I do all different colors. Sometimes it's leads to start other times it leads through this type of visual.. http://www.shareapic.net/content.php?id=1740041 .. Starts off all looking Red, then orange yellow then it goes white to back then burst of all colors together into white, and then I am in another dimension, reality, or get a vision of something from the past in the future. I often get this when I am getting visions too, through my abilities. Although the symbolism is different usually. When I get the railroad symbolism is it connected to train or railroad things, or family, guides or relatives that I am close to. The other thing the lights could be is a symptom of eye strain, or a migraine in some people. But it sounds to me like it is your abilities opening up. Blue is one of the first colors people start to see alot of in flashes when their clairvoyance or clear seeing starts to open up. Take care, - DNatureofDTrain
