Why are Cigarettes so Addictive?

I have read the different studies about smokeing, and nicotine. I smoke a pack of cigarettes a day, and have for 15 years now, I have tried to quit in the past and it lasted for about a week, I have tried gums and patches, and just quiting cold turkey. I even went to the doctor and he prescribed me an anti depressant that would curve the craveings and eventually make them go away, it didnt work, When I don't smoke for an hour I go crazy, I don't want it to be this way. Why are Cigarettes So Addictive?

are u sure u wanna give up?
i was a heavy and chain smoker but free from that becoz i didnt paid much attention to it

I didnt quite understand, Are you saying that you gave up smoking because you didnt pay attention to it? Not sure and if that is it how to not pay attention to it, I mean I try to do without but then it's like if theres not one available at the time I go crazy. I tried to keep my self busy and that doesnt work. How did you do it?
