It has gotten to the point that I don't like to watch the news or read a newpaper. Seems like everyday someone has gotten shot, robbed or even comes up missing. Even our schools aren't safe from students bringing guns to school. Just the other night a 47 year old man got shot to death as he went out in his front yard to tell a car full of people to turn down the loud music. They shot him to death. What is happening to people today, that they have to get out of control and just kill someone. It seems like it is getting worst everday. To the point you hate to go anywhere. Even road rage is out of hand. People losing their tempers over a small incident and takes someones life for it. Is it that there are to many gangs, to easy to get a gun?? Or just people going crazy and going off and don't care who they hurt anymore or what they destory. What are your thoughts on this??

That is why I live in the country and will be ready when and if the violence enters my little piece of the world. It seems to have been started with the lack of clear guidelines for kids. They have grown up with both parents working and schools less about structure and teaching. So sad that we are so into hurting others and not about bringing each other up! That is why also that decent citizens needs to be trained and ready to bear arms in this day and age. At least that is what I feel!

Some times i actually wonder if it is possible for just one time that when i open the tv and tune in to the news that there is no crime incidence. Very true that crimes seems to be getting worst now a days and that it seems our law enforcers are helpless in combating them. greetings. : )

The crimes are getting worst and it is so scarey sometimes. Here in Las Vegas we have even hired more Police, but they can only be in so many places at one time.

I see the point of returning to the fundamental concept of human dignity whenever questions of violence and crime are being raised. Disrespect for human dignity had eroded the society's moral fiber. It all starts in the family. Parents who acknowledge the right of their children presupposes their respect for human dignity. The responsiblity of passing on to their children this kind of outlook should also be uphold. This view involving the family serves as a microcosm, which, if applied to larger societal units, would lesses (if not eradicate) violence and crime. Suspending one's own judgement and prejudices is also a sign of respect for human dignity. We therefore don't see each other as Black or White, Western or Eastern, Muslim or non-Muslim, the list goes on... we transcend our common biases and embrace the existence of another human being like ourselves- a human being capable of expressing its potentialities. By potentialities, I put emphasis on bringing the good in oneself and others. Moral relativism raises a problem to this for what is good for one may not be good for the other. This only breeds conflict. Some people assume that human nature is basically evil. How then could we explain the acts of charity, love, and self-sacrifice for humanity? Go back to the childhood days of famous dictators and hardened criminals and one can find in there a broken relationship between sons and parents. Uncertainty lies on whether we can still undo the damage. The hardest part may be in treating a hardened criminal and a saint as equals in view of human dignity. but with what is happening in our society, we must try harder.

Ooh..my Mom replied to this thread. Hi Mom! *waves* Anyway..sorry, on topic here. I don't think crime's any worse than it's ever been, truthfully. Yes, we see it everyday..someone's been murdered, injured, someone's robbed so-and-so, but I think it's mostly the perception of crimes which has gone up. I don't know whether we've actually gained more morals or lost them, but back in the older days -- think more knights and Lords and Counts and things -- people with an inkling of authority could rob their underlings and it wasn't considered a crime. Until a few centuries ago this was a pretty common concept in one form or another..even today that concept's still alive (but not accepted, thankfully). Another thing to consider is that it's getting harder and harder for people to do bad things and get away with it, so less and less crimes go un-reported, though yes still too many do. The world has never stopped beng insane, people have just invented new ways to add to the insanity.

That sounds about right and I think that is exactly what it is. Some people just take their anger out on other people. I wish we can all just learn to control our tempers and not hurt other people.

Yes, crime has increased all over teh world and crimes news is occupying the fron page of every news papers isn't it? all these depends upon the man in power and sometimes people get left out by government functioning and react in their own way getting into act and sometimes it is government or parents failure to look into peopel in trouble leading to criminal activities and overall government can find many way's of controling crime provided no one from government supports criminal activities.......

It is written. We are in the days where danger abound, where degeneration comes to manifest its worst. Be thankful if you raised your child not to be in the streets like those you just mentioned. Going back to basics like praying, going to church, reading the bible, may be harder than ever, but that is the challenge we face today. In anyway you can, contribute to this effect. Have a Happy Valentine

today people in the world become selfish and they never bother about others even their relations. they wish that we want to live and our want to live thats all. so they never consider crime on the road. even if they see the crime, they will never open their mouth against that crime.

Here's something that you can do about it: http://scientologyhandbook.org/SH12.HTM It's a chapter titled "Solutions For A Dangerous Environment". The chapter is not very long but it is full of information and full of solutions to help you out.
