I feel good!!!

It is now been two weeks since I changed my medication and I feel good. I guess, I should say that I feel like I should. I have battled depression for years and was in the middle of my biggest depression fight ever. With the help, love and support of my wife I worked with my Doctor to adjust my depression meds. Meds do not make it all better on there own. I still have to make the mental effort to not go down "that" road. For those of you who fight depression, you know what road I mean. When depression is untreated and in full effect it is deadly. I say to those of you who are in the midst of a battle with depression ... see a doctor, talk to a counselor, get some exercise and get some sleep. Life will get better ... I promise.

I keep telling people that all the time, Too, but its better when someone who is actually in the same place tells them that its going to be better. Good luck, and I'm glad you have a doctor who cares enough to listen to you and try to fix things. many will just insist you keep taking your meds, or up the dosage so the peson is just a zombie. i have a friend whose doctor was using her as a test subject for years without her knowledge. she lost her husband and children because of it, cannot work, and still has bouts of saddness. If her daughters hadn't got her to sign over her power of attorney to them when the youngest turned 18, she would have probably killed herself by now. They reported the doctor to the medical board, and they did absolutely nothing! She now goes to the psychiatry department of a teaching hospital, sees a different resident or med student every time, but is getting better, consistent care.

WOW, that is bad news. I wish your friend all the best. You are right about some doctors. Some have a hidden agenda. You have be smart about things. Your doctor needs to work WITH you not ON you.

That is fantastic news, it's great that you have a supportive wife and a cooperative doctor who have assisted you in getting back 'on track'. As someone who has gone through some 'low points' in their life I am aware of how difficult it can be to get to a place where you feel happy, and I just wanted to say congratulations on your success, it sounds like you have worked very hard for it.

I have worked hard. I have to keep working hard or I can fall back into the "bad" place. I hope you are dealing with life well, too. Thanks.
