well, lie is a lie, it's a sin no matter what reasons behind it. But me, my self sometimes choose to lie and justified that by saying 'oh, that's a white lie' ... simply to justified my self, for the sake of other's feeling. I don't mind commit that sin for the sake of others goodness. For example, if i don't like a sweater that my spouse made for three months, i won't tell her. i'll tell her that i like the sweater very much because i appreciate her efforts on making that sweater. I don't mind committing such sin for protecting my loved ones feeling (yet that means im hurting the Lord's feeling for committing a sin) Fortunately, the Lord that i worship is a mercifull one, so i guess i can do some bargain on this matter. For flesh are weak, that's just small example how im bargaining with sin, that's why i need Him even more, to guard me, to teach me, to shape me, so i could follow His path, and be His tools so glory & honor will be upon His name even more.

A lie is still a lie whether you have the white before it or not and it is still a sin. Well, many people said that we sometimes have to lie for the goodness of ourselves or even for other people but I do not think that it is supposed to be done. There is a saying that "Truth will always hurt" and that is why, if we does not want to hurt the one we love, do we actually lie to them? that is not a good choice. I say that we should "Manage the truth" rather than changing the truth or manipulate it. As far as I know, in the bible, there is no sying that what lie is allowed and I studied Religion studies 2 unit in High school which is pretty deep and I also learn that white lie is unacceptable. But the problem nowdays is, is bribing also a lie? In certain country, it is hard to get your driver lisence without you actually bribe them. So what to do in this matter? All I can say is God look at your deepest heart and human look what their eyes see.

I dont think bribing is a lie, it is just an unfair conduct of things. However, just as you say, God will look at our heart, not at what we do. "manage the truth" very true indeed. :)
