what kind of dog should i keep as a pet

I say you should get a jack russell terrier. My friend has one and it is sooo cute.

Just be forewarned since you want a clean dog: smaller breeds are GENERALLY harder to housebreak than larger breeds. I would recommend a medium sized small dog at least 15 pounds rather than a toy breed. Toy breeds are more often disposed to health problems because they are inbred, particuarly at this time because they are popular so they are even more overbred than previously. As far as non-shedding breeds go: MIniature Scnauzer, Bichon, Miniature Poodle are some suggestions. I would suggest researching all of these breeds and perhaps others significantly before making a decision. Whatever you do, do NOT buy from a pet store, but form a reputable breeder.
