and by "fell" I of curse meant feel... music seems to be something many say they turn to, but in all it is probably depressing music that is inflamming the down feelings as opposed to something making you more up-beat huh?

I suffer from depression and I find that it helps when I surround myself with children and animals...they make me smile and laugh again.

When I am depressed I sit alone, do nothing and don't talk to people. So, I have to force myself to do things I don't feel like doing. I take the dogs to the park for a game of ball, that always cheers me up. I ring friends or family, even though I do not feel like talking, usually get off the phone feeling better. I make myself get off my butt and go to the gym with a friend, exercise always helps, although sometimes I have had to be dragged off to the gym. After gym we go out for lunch and a chat, everyone needs a sypathetic ear at times. I go to pet stores and look at the cute puppies, kittnes, rabbits, ferrets, mice, rats, whatever they have, also go to department stores and look at teddy bears and other stuffed toys, I look at them, pick them up, feel their soft coats, admire them, lol, might sound childish but I love teddy bears. So, all these things help me out of the rut I have found myself in, sometimes it just takes time though.

When I get depressed. I need to release and express. So first thing I do is find someone to talk to, about what is bothering me, and ask them to listen, and just support me, after this. I tend to either write poetry, or sing Crazy Train by Ozzy.. If I have no one to talk to that is what I do poetry, and Crazy Train to express, and release whatever situation is bothering me... Then I evaluate: Have I been eating enough? Have I been Sleeping enough? Did I get enough sunlight? If I had not been eating or sleeping or enough. I go eat turkey, and I then take a nap... If I am not getting enough sunlight, I try to schedule my day so I can find away to be in sunlight for at least 2-3 hrs a day, or at least watch the sunrise and sunset.. (for my Seasonal Affectiveness Disorder) if this is not helping, and I need another little boost. I resume taking my St. Johns Wort. Which for me when I was in therapy we realised that St. Johns Wort for my system worked just as Well as Zoloft does. So we worked out a plan how to start myself on it and off it..... on my own... If the Depression does not ease up within a couple of days. Then After I am Eating, Sleeping, getting enough sunlight, and taking Saint Johns wort. I force myself to BE ACTIVE ... Do something I love to do. Like Chatting in a chatroom, Posting on forums, Listening to others and giving them support. Sharing both serious and silly stories, large, and small, about true believeable, and unbelievable experiences in my life. Spend alot of times with my cats and dogs, try to force myself to stick with family traditions, and have fun.. Not always easy to do. Depression attacks your will, makes you feel undeserving of fun, and makes a person want to hide away, and never come out as depression itself fills them with feelings of fear, lonliness, hopefullness, despair, and then it is hard to get out of it. Now Retreating and isolating is alright once in awhile. But... It depends on what you do in this time. Do you retreat and have a pity party? or Do you retreat, and force yourself to relax, take a break, sleep, rest, and heal. Number 2 is hard to do a little pity party can be helpful, but the sooner you get the Expressions all released, and able to pull a stop to the thoughts that are bringing you down, plan a goal, to help ease it, deal with it, change the situation, accept the situation, fix the chemical issue, or heal yourself... The sooner you can heal from depression, and get out of it... Now 3-4 days of being depressed is something everyone goes through on and off but if you find it lasting for weeks, or months. That is when you need to seek out a Mental Health professional.. Either Alternative Therapy, or Regular Mainstream doctors all depends on your preference. The First step to healing from depression is promising yourself to keep searching for the help you need, keep with the therapy, if that does not work, try another therapy, if that does not work, try another doctor, promise yourself to be persistent, to fight again depression..... "You ain't gonna win unless you put up a good fight so do not give up hope any day or night" - John Henry. It's better to fight depression and lesson it's grip enough to enjoy and deal with life, then sitting in the tunnel all your life, and wishing for a way out, when you can hammer your way out, and it can be beat. Take care.
