this book is based on the story of a girl,Veronika, who seems to have everithing she could wish for.She is young, pretty and has attractive boyfriends, but seems that this doesn`t really matter for her. So,she is not happy cause someting lacking in her life.that`s why on the morning of November 11th,she decides to die.in order to do that she takes an overdoze of sleeping pills, but a little later she wake up in a local hospital of Villette. There she is told that although she is alive now her heart is damaged and she has only few days to live. so,this story follows Veronika through these days while she begins to notice more,to become interested in the other patients. She starts to see her past relationship much more clearly and understand why she felt her life had no meaning. in this place, veronika discovers things she has never allowed herself before:fear, curiosity, love and she finds she is wanting,if at all possible,to live again.so she realise that every second of existence is a choice that we all make between living and dying

I already read Paulo Coehlo's the Alchemist, it was a good book. My friend recommended his book entitled By the River Piedra I Sat down and Wept, and I'm looking forward to read this.

I think almost every sentence in this book is an interpretation of philosophy on life and psychology.

I'm currently reading this book. I'm at the part of Mari's life. I hope I can finish this soon. And I find it an interesting book. I admire Paulo Coelho for this book. :) Thumbs up!

I haven't read the book, but you make it sound like a very interesting story! I was acquainted with the title since the band Saturnus have done an album loosely based on the book. The album is even entitled "Veronika Decides to Die". Anyone who might be interested in the band can check them out at www.saturnus.dk
