I am always scared around new knives - they have to cut someone once at least, always have noticed that. Also kinda scared of graters. I leave the last chunks out instead of taking the chance of getting my fingers grated too. Which things do you feel trepidation while using/ which things do you totally avoid?

As a single man living alone I'm not very comfortable with kitchen/cooking and I usually eat out or bring ready food with me or call delivery .. but I get to cook sometimes and although I'm handy with a lot of things I'm very uncomfortable with sharp knives and always extra careful and slow when using them.

I tend to grate the ends of my fingers and really don't like big knives. I have just re-learned a new respenct of hand held mixers, I didn't get the wall switch off properly and cut my finger, luckily it's not too bad but it was a clear warning to be more careful.

I'm not a big fan of graters. I'm always catching them on my fingers. Also, our cooker is broken, it has be to lit with a lighter, as the ignition switch has given up. I hate using that. It's singed my nails a few times, but I'm always scared that it'll burn me when I light it.

I'm light scared with knives and graters. But what i really hate is the pressured cooker. When the water started to boil, it seems that the cover will get blast. And i'm scared of that. Because if have this experience, when my aunt is cooking using the pressured cooker. And she forget that after boiling and all the meat was already done, pressured cooker need to put in a tap water so that the heat will subside. What happened was the cover blasts and some of the meat. Need to be careful sometimes to avoid accident while cooking.

Hey where are you from? In India its recommended to buy only pressure cookers from Prestige cos they are guaranteed to be safe. These things are extremely dangerous if not from a reputed company. Did you aunt get hurt with that accident? IF you get the same brand there, you should probably use that one and then you can get the amazing benefits of this device without the fear. My mother used her cooker since 35 years and I have mine since 3 - NO problems whatsoever!

I had this popcorn air popper that I was sure was going to explode everytime I used it...something about it just seemed really unstable. I finally went with my instincts and got rid of it before there was a major accident. Now I use a stove top popper...the popcorn tastes so much better with it and I'm not as worried about getting really hurt.
