I love the fresh smell of sunlight dried bed sheets that have just come in from the clothes line. Scientists tell us sunlight doesn't have a smell, what do they know? They are only over educated boffins who miss out on the small joys of life. Any house wife will tell you the bed sheets smell wonderful.

Many years ago a "Director of Nursing" at one of the big Sydney Hospitals in Australia made the decision to simply take the bed sheets of the clothes line, fold them up and stow them away in the linen cupboard until required. Her reasoning was because "She loved the smell of the sunlight". Not only did the Hospital save money but it was found the patients became healthier. The sheets dried in clothes dryers or in the shade simply don't have the same wonderful smell. Perhaps it is something to do with the lack of germs as ultra violet light in sunlight kills bacteria it is the ultimate disinfectant.
