Is that important or a non-issue? Why?

I think that it is a big deal, and that fact is a little sad. I sincerely hope that one day soon race will no longer be a factor at all and people will simply be people. Someday, we will have an African American President and no matter whether this leader is wonderful or a total bust, the thing that history will likely most remember is his (or her!) race.

I hope we live to see that day, in my case that would mean the day would not be too far in the future!

It is a big thing, considering that this is the first time that there has been even 1 black coach to lead his team to the Superbowl, and it happend that there were 2. Considering that there's never been a black coach to lead his team to the Superbowl before this it is a big deal.

I read a story in the paper saying basically the same thing as you, it only matters because it is the first time.

I do think this is an important issue and event. I think that the fact of two African American coaches in the Super Bowl game will help African Americans get more head coaching jobs in the future. There has always been problems with the NFL and other pro sports teams hiring African Americans as head coach. It should have never been an issue to begin with but I think it will help in both football and other pro sports.

It should help in all realms, administration, management, coaching. Another step forward for mankind!
