i use to live in a free country..or at least i thought i did till i grew up..the non smokers are winning the battle!but should they be happy?when you take away someone's right's you should be scared..whats next?in dallas texas a company is refusing to allow their workers to smoke even off the job..the reason they say?health insurance cost's..so what is next?i can guarantee you fat people are next so if any of you nonsmokers are overweight i'd suggest losing the fast food habit..if a insurance company can refuse ins. to a smoker obese people are going to be out too.. how much health care obese people need? let's see diabetes risks heart disease you know...and the drinkers??if i can't smoke because of insurance do i want a drinker on my auto insurance? seconhand drinking victims usually die from a drunks car or a drunk causes his family secondhand drinking problems..like abuse and divorcr and the health risks? mostly liver i believe but hey its a health insurance cost too!! so all you nonsmokers should be proud at the open door you've left insurance companies to discriminate at will everything they say about smokers can be applied to fat people and drinkers..and after we lose those rights?? genetic disabilities? whose next?

Insurance is already going after people that are over weight. I got insurance and my husbands part sky rocketed because they consider him obese because of his BMI. He is by no means obese he works out constantly and the BMI only goes by weight and height in the insurance world. They said we could fight it he would need a physical and to prove that he isn't obese. It's just a crock. Call it land of the free as long as you want to pay an arm and a leg for what you like.

I don't think it's right of you to blame ALL non-smokers for opening this door. As a non-smoker, I don't want to be exposed to the smoke for many reasons, the main one being health. I understand a company banning smoking in the work place, but I don't agree that they should ban it altogether. Like you said, this used to be a free country.
