How to build a backyard skating rink.

Here in Ontario Canada, we seem to finally have some snow and cold weather that looks as though it is here to stay, at least until spring. We have a nice big back yard and I would like to start a skating rink. Seems like a fun way to get some exercise and a lot more convenient than packing up and going to the nearest rink. Besides I like to skate outside, arena skating was never my thing. So I want to build a rink. Now what? Do I just go out there with a hose and start spraying water? Do I need some kind of tarp? Do I need to lie down some lumber around the edges? Are there skating rink "kits" at the hardware store? Has anybody out there ever done this? Please help!
