Has anyone taken Bradley classes in preparation for homebirth?

My husband and I are thinking about beginning a birth class as we should deliver our first baby in three months. Has anyone taken the 'Bradley Method' classes and had their husband/partner serve as the coach? We are a bit nervous to attempt our first birth at home, but know it should be just as safe as a hospital delivery. Has anyone successfully had a homebirth using the Bradley Method?

I highley recommend them! My husband and I were so happy that we took these classes. They are quite expensive but the are worth every penny. We just had a homebirth last October and it was wonderful. I would suggest that you start the classes ASAP because they are usually 12 weeks long but if you don't get through them all you will still be fine. Someone would ask my husband something about pregnancy or birth while I was pregnant and he would tell them everything he knew. He had a few people ask him if he went to school on this subject. I cannot say enough good things about these classes! Let me know if you have any specific questions.

We actually had our third class tonight! they showed us a video on the effects of ultrasound and I found it quite upsetting... do they go over this in all Bradley classes or just mine? I agree they're great classes, and I have a wonderful instructor. My dilemma now is that my midwife wasn't home when I went by for our weekly appointment, and she didn't call me or notify me in any way that she wouldn't be home. I'm worried about my homebirth now not because of anxiety or unpreparedness (the classes have taken care of that!) Instead it's because I'm unsure of my midwife! My only specific question for you is about the ultrasound, and using a doppler... Did you see the same video?

I posted an entire discussion about this. It would be great for you to read it and let me know your views on ultrasound. Also, my midwife pointed out to me that the two things she noticed about the studies I sent her were that, for one, the research all came from credible sources and, for two, it's a bit outdated... the studies were done in the early 90's. That said, my Bradley instructor told me that the only thing that has changed since those studies were done (meaning no one has proven them any safer or the information obtained false) is that the FDA has approved of ultrasound use up to 8 times stronger than the frequencies used in said early 90's studies!
