What's the difference between being an entrepeneur and an independent contractor

I have been doing independent contract work such as mystery shopping and merchandising, but suppose I wanted to offer my services as a private dance instructor, or I wanted to pay my friend to watch my son so she could make money and I could still have the write off. I am more interested in the former. I have been line dancing/partner dancing more than half my life and have had people pay for lessons, but I was thinking about taking it public. Can I do so as an independent contractor or do I need to get a business license?

entrepeneur - is someone that creates his/her own business and sells their own service or products. independent contract - is someone that sells others service or products. In order to run a off-line business legally you need to have a business license from your local county. If you plan on doing this online then you dont need a business license. You still have to pay your taxes and such but there is no law requiring you to have a business license to run a site online.
