Do you think that there is such a thing as the collective unconscious?

That ideas can kind of float around for other people to pick up on? It seems like a lot of things have been invented at around the same time in different places and I have had the experience on three occasions of people having the same dream as me.

In my younger days, I went to some parties where quite a few people seemed to be collectively unconscious...

Hee hee. Was it the SAME unconsciousness though or lots of separate unconsciousnesses?!

Here's another way to look at what's going on.
If people are having the same thoughts, then there must be something that people 'tap' into. So the question arises "Where do thoughts come from"?
In meditation when you quieten the mind, you can start to see where they come from. Have a totally silent mind, then watch what happens. Catch the thoughts. A silent mind = a clear head, except for the gunk that accumulates as a result of the un-silent mind. (another story).
Thoughts come from above the head, have the experience and you will see.
Next questions: Why is it when people think they look up? why the light bulb on top of the head? Thoughts/ideas.
Currents of ideas and thoughts circulate in non-physical realms. The brain being a receptor cognizes those ideas and we have the opportunity to manifest them into a creation.
Thoughts are like a current that we tap into which explains why someone can have an absolutely brilliant idea in Fiji and then in China someone else is having the same idea. It's the one who does the creating the fastest who gets the patent!
If you look at thoughts as being in a current, also explains why when you are thinking of someone, they actually are dialing the telephone to call you, you are tapping into the same layer of consciousness.
So is the collective unconscious another description for thought currents?
What happens in consciousness is a very mappable state. It just has to be slowed down enough to see it.

I think you're right. If thinking discharges electicity then there is no reason why those ions and electrons can't convey information in the same binary fashion as neurons.
