Any home remedies to ease out my toddler's discomfort due to cough and cold?

With this cold weather that we had been having for weeks now, my baby had catch cold and cough. I gave her medicine but my heart breaks everytime she coughs or congested because she is still learning how to spit when she coughs etc. I know the heater makes the nose more stuffy...so i have open containers of water all over the house to lessen the humidity. I was thinking of buying a humidifier. I also massage her with Vicks like what my mom used to do for me. But i know, every parent has its own special way of easing discomfort for their children...care to share them here?

I use a johnson and johnson menthal bath liquid that you pour into the bath and make sure I am using the correct dosage of medicine (not what the bottle says) by going to askdrsears dot come and looking it up in the medicine cabinet link. I also clean out there nose with the infant toddler nose can from Walgreens that is an aresol mist. I think the thing that helps the most is the bath and correct dosage though.

These are great suggestions Jen. I haven't been giving her a bath just wipe her up coz it might worsen her cold...but I will try that and let my husband pick up some of that johnson stuff. I just clean up her nose with that baby suction thing. Thank you very much for sharing this.
