I don't always search a discussion before posting.
But that was because for some reason, the search did not always work.
Plus, if a dicussion has a different tag that you did not think of for your search, then it will not show. But then you still have like discussions. That is the whole point of putting a tag. :)
But I guess I got into a habit of not searching before posting because the search did not work right when I started.
I have once been attacked for posting like discussions by another person.
But even when I did a search, it still did not bring up that user's discussion.
So, I am not going to sweat it. I am sure with how many people are out there, there are going to be duplicate discussions. Especially if the tags are not set. properly or the same.

I normally don't do it but have seen some discussions almost equal to some I've started but I think, if not started almost at the same time it's normal to have more than one discussion with the same subject running at the same time even though I think people should search for an active discussion before posting a new one about the same matter so it doesn't piss me off that much because in 61.000+ members I think it's normal for some remember of the same subject to start a discussion about.

You need not have to feel shame about it. Just check at what time you posted it and check the other one what time it is posted. If it is later than yours you need not feel bad about it. Also avoid asking common questions: I have listed some 50:A few here:
Pepsi or coke; apartment or individual house; coffee or tea; what is the time there; what is your favourite colour, what is your sun sign;

Well, in fairness, the one that was like yours may have been started some time ago. It's only natural that the same topics come up every now and again. I don't mind responding to them all. It's when they're an exact copy that I have the problem. :)

Not often but yes I do search topics that I intend to discuss first to check if there is a similar threat opened or not. If I dont find a similar topic, I do open one. Sometimes I realise when its too late that there was an already opened threat about the same topic.
