How do you promote a blog that has no traffic yet?

I seem to be running into a problem: efforts to promote my blog are met with places or people that need it to have TRAFFIC first before they will link to it or let me use it for advertising writeups. It's like needing a job but you can't get one because you don't have experience but how can you get experience if you don't have a job? How can I list it in something to get some traffic where the fact that it is new doesn't matter? Ideas for places to list it? Here is the topic it's on: Wisdom of Abundance: The principles of attracting wealth with mathematical certainty, combined with a daily focus on finding ways to make honest money online. I would post the link but I answered someone else's request for blog links on here with it... not sure if a second link would be considered spam. p.s. While eating this post, I ate three long carrots and got BAD hiccups. Normally, bending over and drinking from the OPPOSITE side of the glass works every time. This time it hasn't. Something else to try?

Your blog: Spread by word of mouth first or use email and ask your friends to check out your site. You've got to start somewhere. Then list your blogs in directories or join forums and put in under signature or something. http://www.spicypage.com http://mybloglog.com http;//www.technorati.com these are the more common ones people use, I suppose. And do link exchange with friends or family. Surf other bloggers' site and comment. Be nice and all.. Check back and see if you can do a link exchange with the person. I got to know that if you link someone who has a high page rank, it would increase your page rank as well. That would probably bring in traffic. Join forums. Any forum. Mingle. Your hiccups: When I get them, I hold my breath for about 30 seconds and they're gone.
