many people enjoy the habit of smoking, mostly boys start smoking from the early age of 12 to 15 because of the influence of friends or curiosity until it becomes a habit.theres a great danger in smoking. not only to the one who smoke, but also the health of people around them, specially children. they are affected when sharing cigarette smokes (whether they like it or not)from the smokers. smoking causes asthma, empyzema, tuberculosis & worst lung cancer.thats why smokers who are educated about this, try to smoke away from children in order to protect them. unfortunately, they do this favor for others but not for themselves.

It depends upon the manner of bringing up of the parent regarding their child. My boyfriend has a father who smokes & drinks but none of them (he & his siblings) drinks or smokes or gambles, etc..

To a large extent, children learn by example. They are not stupid. Even if they do not "see" their parents smoking, I would think that they will figure it out by age 12 or so. The best way that parents can influence their children not to smoke or to quit if they have already started experimenting with it is to set a good example by not smoking themselves- at all!
