Craving black currant jam

Black currants - Black currants make the best jam!

I've seen so many great recipes posted here at myLot so I know this is the place to ask! Growing up, my best friend's mom always made THE most amazing black currant jam. She grew the fruit in their backyard and the taste of the jam was out of this world. Every year, she'd send us over a jar or two. I've purchased many pots and jars, even trying some pretty pricey specialty jams, and I've never found one as good as that made by my "second mom". I never got her recipe :( So, if anyone has a recipe that they love, would you share it?

I have never had black current jam, but I found a page with a lot of recipes. Maybe one of those will work for you. forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/harvest/msg080854377885.htmlforums. Good luck with your canning! =)

Question. We have currents and they are red. WE have black and red rasberries, black berries that we make jar from also. I have a crockpot recipe for jam and a bread machine recipe. I will try to find them later in the week. If I dont post a discussion with them in it....email me and remind me.

Yep, they really are black currants :) I've seen the red ones, too, though! The black currants make a jam that is similar to blueberry but it has a more tart and "defined" taste. I've had blueberry jam that can be a bit too mild, you know? The currants are really excellent in jam. Thanks a million, villageanne! :)
