Did you or will you have a destination wedding?

Years back, while working in a weddings forum, I became very intrigued by the idea of destination weddings. One bride-to-be explained how she was a real "francophile" but she and her groom were never going to have the money to travel to France. So, they planned their wedding at the Paris Las Vegas so they could have their picture by the Eiffel Tower and the whole bit! Another girl was planning an island wedding and, having seen several take place while I was on my own honeymoon in Barbados, I thought that would be an amazing experience as well. The hotel staff took such care building a beautiful arch of flowers for each wedding, whether it was a wedding party in full attire or a couple and their witnesses, on the spur of the moment, in their swimsuits!
Has anyone had a destination wedding? If you didn't, where would be your dream location? Disney World? A tropical resort? A drive-through chapel in Vegas? LOL If you have done it, would you do it all over again or was it a planning nightmare? I'd love to hear about your experiences, amazing or otherwise!

I would just be happy to get married, period, lol! Although a lovely wedding would be great, I don't foresee having the money to create a destination wedding. I've always wanted to visit England / Britain, but I would plan that for another trip and wouldn't need to include it as part of my wedding. I do love your stories very much, though, especially about the girl who had her wedding at the Paris Las Vegas! It's cute picturing her and her groom having their picture taken by the "Eiffel Tower" even if it wasn't the real one! Aw ^_^

She was such a cutie that one... she went all out and had to have french food and everything. She did SO much research into what her wedding "could" have been like, had she'd been able to really go to Paris. I admired her devotion to the theme. Almost as much as I admire your sense of humor, shywolf LOL! I always love your responses :)

Neat idea for sure! I'm not so sure I'd go to the cost of it and instead perhaps put the money towards a great honeymoon together instead of a big wedding... but that's my own preference. The pains I had in my small wedding were enough to make me pull hair out... cannot imagine doing something this elaborate! LOL

I hear ya there, hockeygal! LOL I had under 20 at my second wedding and it was every bit as much planning as the first wedding. That's why I'm really curious about people who HAVE done the destinations. I can't imagine the coordination it takes to get family, friends, whomever to the same place, at the same time... not to mention the amount of Tylenol!! LOL!
