Is God male or female?

Would you know if God is male or female? I have always thought, from Bible study classes, that God is male. He was always portrayed as that- masculine, strong, fierce, a God of wrath and justice. But He is also gentle, loving, and forgiving-- traits that are more "womanly." I don't think it has ever been mentioned in the Bible if God is male or female. What do you think?

Oh, G-d is definitely male. No Goddess would make us females have to go through the crap we go through every frickin' month. And the intense, unbearable pain that sometimes goes with it? If you're lucky enough like me, anyway. Oh, the joys. (Yes, that was sarcasm, people.) Gentle and loving? Hmm... that could be arguable...

I don't think God is male or female. God is more than that. God is omnipotent. All powerful God is Omnipresent. Present everywhere. God is Omniscient. All knowing. All forms are gave by our belief and caricatures only. No one has seen the form of his existence. Where there is Love, there God is evident. Don't give him masculine physique or beauty rankings or any other posture, like movie directors thought to get visualization for Box-Office hits.

Well God is neither a male or a female. It is because God does not have a body. That's one of our differences from God. And yes God have the traits of both male and female. God is a tiny point of light. If you want to understand this more log on to www.bkwsu.org

Cross of Christ - Cross of Christ

Throughout the Old Testament, when God is referred to, it is as He and His. Throughout the New Testament God is spoken of as "Father". All the people mentioned in the New Testament called God Father. The Jewish nation all called Him Father. Jesus Christ always referred to God as Father. He spoke of God as "My Father and your Father" Now, I am sure that no one would call Jesus a liar. Even those who believe Jesus was only a good man or a prophet would say He was one of the best, if not the best, of all who ever lived. He was NOT a liar. Since Jesus called God "Father" that is good enough for me. Are you saying that MEN cannot be "gentle, loving and forgiving" - or, for that matter, that women can't be "strong and fierce" or even "masculine"? I know women who are, and I know many men who are gentle, loving and forgiving. God is a God of love. God loves us so much that He gave His most precious Son to die for us, to pay the penalty for our sin and to purchase our redemption. God is merciful and forgiving when we turn to Him in repentance. Many people see God as a God of wrath, and it is true that His wrath IS against all ungodliness. It is also true that His wrath was poured out on the Lord Jesus on the cross, and that when we identify with Him in His sacrifice, we will never have to face the wrath of God. Yes, God is love. God is my loving heavenly FATHER who has loved me and undertaken for me in so very many ways for 48 of my 70 years.

To me, God is both male and female. Remember He is everywhere, and everyone around us was created according to his likeness.
