Movie/Tv downloads

Does using a 'Limewire' type programme to download movies/tv from net slow down ones P.C.? I have heard that it makes broadband behave like dial-up.

one should limit the banwidth used by such programs so that it doesnt slow down the pc.

It doesn't do that to my computer, but my sister says that limewire slows her whole pc down.

It does this because it's using the computer's bandwidth. Unless you have a super super highspeed connection, all programs like Limewire will slow your internet while hey're running.
