Sunday School?

We live in a big city called Bangalore and in most cosmopolitan cities, Sunday classes are not conducted, because commuting itself takes longer time for 1 hour or 2 hours class. Instead, a period is set apart in week days for moral science lesson. During this period, etiquettes, social behaviour, ehtics and morals are taught. I agree with you that such a thing is important for children to learn to develop their personality.

I think there is a Jehovas witness sunday school in town but other than that I don't think either of our village churches do it anymore. To be honest school seems to push quite enough religion into my son, I'm not sure I agree with it as it's almost all christian although last year they learned about dibali (so sorry everyone I have no idea how to spell it)- the festival of light which is lovely. I think religious education should give the children an idea about several religions so they can make informed choices. It also annoys me that they can dismiss my sons belief in Angels, spirits, monsters vampires and Father Christmas etc and tell him these things do not exist but god does. What right have they to know everything and dismiss all the wonderful make believe world you have as a small child? Do you see god, do you see spirits? hmmm see it's not that easy especially as my son does see spirits regularly.

hi,Really good thinking by your people.Here we don't have such type of schools.Those classess wil develop children in good path.Here in india people are step forward in mis utilizing the democracy and especially in religious matters.

Our church has Sunday school services at 8:30am & 10:30 am. They also offer children's classes on Friday evenings and sometimes there are specific age group meetings throughout the week...home study groups. I believe its really important for kids to be in an age specific class, learning the scriptures and to discuss issues that are related with their time in their young lives. My boys really enjoy going to the High School youth services and are really learning to understand their faith and what they believe in. It's awesome!
