What do you think about some places banning the Harry Potter series? Some people feel that the HP books promote witchcraft.

I think tat is a very stupid thing. It does nothin of tat sort. Its jus a fictional book like any other. Its jus read for the sake of entertainment and no1 is ever forced to read it. Wen a fictional book is written its jus read and every1 jus forgets bout it. No1 tries 2 follow wats in it and try 2 incorporate it in their actual lives. So why does tis have 2 be any different. Its a really gud book 4 people of al ages and its shudn't be banned anywher!!

yeah I agree... people won't do witchcraft only because they had read a fantasy book...

why the hell do you think that Harry Potter books should be banned? witch craft is not the reason. there have been so many witch craft movies and they had null affect on the kids and people and now when people see that a wizard has gone to the top of the world, they try to crucify it so that its effect is reduced but mind you buddy. this will never affect Harry Potter. If you call me mad I would not mind but Harry Potter can never be banned.

Actually, I don't think that HP should be banned? On the contrary, I am a huge Harry Potter fan and I will be the first in line to protest against such ban. In fact, I already have a reservation for book 7 at our local bookstore here. I am just asking public opinion because I found some info on the net that some people in some places in the U.S. are seeking to have HP books banned. But I know they won't succeed.

I don't agree with banning any books. I think it's wrong to do so. It goes against freedom of speach in my opinion. So what if Harry Potter talks about magic. It has some great morals in there, like friends help one another, good triumphs over evil, that love conguers all, and more that I could list. What is so wrong with that? As for witchcraft and it promoting it, so what if it does. There is nothing wrong with witchcraft. It is not evil, it is not consorting with the devil or any of that nonsense. Some people need to realize that one it's fiction, it's not real and second that witchcraft is not old crones standing by a cauldron ready to eat children or some other nonsense that has been put forth by churchs and hollywood.

I don't agree with them for sure. People who want to ban Harry Potter must be lack of imagination and possibly look the world badly.

:) If you go to JKR jkrowling.com site, you will see that she is smiling at the idea of being banned :D she said she is good company with other famous authors Mark Twain for one. Let them try to ban the books we love, promoting witchcraft! There is nothing evil in witchcraft, it is not as some feel satanical or devil worship. Just because witches personify the Lord, the Green Man as a Horned God and have done for yeons, people think they are worshipping the devil. The devil or evil is all around us, and its not in Harry Potter or Mark Twain, its in the air. Go ban the air! silly fools. Why don't they ban cars, planes, trains and transport after all its damaging our health, its killing our planet its burning resources. Why not suggest Electricity is evil, they used to, hence Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. I would love to talk to these people who think witchcraft is evil, face to face in a debate on Jerry Springer :D

Unbeliveable. If a person wishes to read a book then they should be able too. If a person wishes to be a witch then that is also up to them. It isn't right to discrimnate against others and whoever banns the HP books should be boild in caldron with newts eyes and frogs blood, Mhuwahahahaaaaaaaa. No like sreiously though the public just wouldn't be pleased at all if it was banned.
