It is not known clearly how this stereotype came to be, but the "dumb blonde" stereotype could simply have come from modern potrayals, beginning very likely with Anita Loos's popular 1925 book Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. The story's central character, Lorelei Lee , is a beautiful but empty-headed singer. The roles that Marilyn Monroe, Judy Holliday,Jayne Mansfield, and Betty Hutton played certainly helped to spread the stereotype; For full article, try to read http://www.answers.com/topic/dumb-blonde They give a very nice answer there

Plain and simple, otherwise we couldn't make any blonde jokes.... :-) I guess it's just the same reason as why the French are arrogant, the Dutch are cheap, and so on and so on. I guess it's not fair on the blondes, but then again, studies DO say it's easier for them to get jobs :-)

That is a good question, whenever I have done something....ummm shall we say 'silly' I always say 'I'm having a blonde moment'.

I dont really think that its based so much on reality, i would find it hard to believe that by accident all less intelligent people happened to become blond. I se this as a sometimes effective way to annoy people, something a friend has told me im very good at.
