Are you brand loyal or will you buy generics?

I'm a little of both. Things I buy brand name of are: Heinz 57 Ketchup Tide with Bleach Bounce or Downey (or I use vinegar for a fabric softner) And I think that is all. Everything else is fair game depending on sale prices. If I think of anything I left out I'll add it later on. How about you?

When it comes to clothing and other not-so-useful stuffs, I tend to consider more the quality and price rather than the brand names. On food condiments, soaps and other essential necessities, we are very loyal in brands.

I have a tendency to buy generic items over brand name ones for the most part. I find generic items do much the same job that brand name ones do but for a fraction of the price. I can save a lot of money by buying my items this way and in the end, help my family to get ahead by not having to rely on something that is super expensive. I've found sometimes that generic brands sometimes end up doing the job a lot better compared to brand name products. But I feel it all depends upon what it is that I may be purchasing. As some things work better then others when it comes to certain brands.. I found that one of the best examples of having a brand name beat out a generic is in the case of macaroni and cheese. The generic type is usually flavorless and I end up throwing it out because it lacks any real flavor in the first place. It turns out just to be noodles in a yellow sauce. I know I have purchased this in the past.. And had thought that I had gotten such a good deal.. Because of the fact that I had saved a few dollars or cents.. Then when I took a bite of the generic kraft dinner I just ended up spitting it out.. I just found it to be rather disgusting.. And in this case quite honestly I know that.. I would much rather personally pay the extra twenty or so cents for something that actually has taste to it, like the Kraft version. In the case of things like cleaning items, I can not justify paying crazy prices when I find items from the dollar store to be just as good. I would rather buy things like furniture polish from the dollar store than anywhere else, unless it is on sale. That is the only exception I'll make. If the stuff is on sale and is cheaper or comparable to the generic brand, I'll usually go with the brand name item. But I find a lot of brand name products to be over priced. And sometimes I've found that the generic brands end up doing a better job sometimes. It just all depends upon the product in general though like I had stated above.. I like to think of myself as more of the type of person who will buy generic brands over brand name products any day.. But I find I am a little bit of both sometimes though to.. Though I find I buy generic brands & the products end up working even better.. Or sometimes even are tastier then the brand names.. I find I have saved on a lot of money by purchasing generic brands over brand name products over the years.. I find the only time I tend to purchase brand name products is when they are on sale.. I also sometimes find that brand name products sometimes are better quality.. Though I know I find purchasing things such as shoes.. I have had generic brands end up lasting longer than brand name products.. I think it just all depends upon what you buy.. In conclusion, I think it is more cost effective if you can get items for cheap as opposed to paying for a brand name. Sometimes I've found the brand name is actually a worse product than a generic. Other times I find brand name products to be a lot better.. I feel it all depends upon what it is that you may be buying.. For the most part I find I buy generic brands more than brand name products. Unless the brand name products are on sale.. That is why I have a tendency to buy generic items a large majority of the time.. I find the price is reasonable & fits in to my budget.. And I find sometimes it works just as good compared to brand name products! But it does all depend upon what it is that I may have decided to purchase! . . Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

I am not brand picky at all. I have my preferences, but if I need it, sale prices speak loder then brand do, LOL. I have a preference of Best Food's Mayonnaise (Hellman's), and most name brand cereals, although a few choice generics are ok. (Definitely no generic Cheerios!) We also but only named brand potato chips, but what brand, it really doesn't matter. We do buy a lot of generic. We hardly ever buy named brand soda.

Personally, I will buy whatever is cheaper and I like. If it is food, there are some generic brands I would pick over the brand name anyday. Clothes it doesn't matter, if I like the way they look and they fit me, it doesn't have to be a certain brand for me to wear. We just never really been picky on certain brand name things.

For me I will stick with Hellmanns mayonaiise, Tide HE, Gain fabric softener. Most everything else is generic, excluding shampoo and toothpaste. I have tried other brands and store brands/generic and found that they aren't as good as those I stick to.

I am more a brand food buyer. When the kids were home there was a lot more generic stuff bought then. I think I may be a pickier eater than I ever knew. I have tried generic, but if I don't like it I end up wasting it. So, it is best for me to stick to the brand foods.

If the generics cost as much as the branded one, I wouldn't go for the generic. However, if generic is cheaper, then I wouldn't mind trying. But if the quality is not up to standard, I wouldn't buy even if it's cheaper than branded.
