how do you know when the person is THE ONE?

I just wondered how you really know if what you got is for real. I don't think it's how long you've known each other although it matters a lot that you do know each other. I don't think it's all about how much you've shared but openness is really important. But how do you actually know that you're with that person that you want to spend the rest of your life with? Some couples who have been together for the longest time ended up having the worst of marriages. While there have been a handful who have only been together for a few months and are now celebrating their silver. So how can you really tell? I'm sure it's more than sheer luck right?

From what ive read, u feel all warm n tingly inside and hear bells. I believe all the books we've read and movies we've watched have given us the wrong notion that if we trust our gut feeling and the astrologer, we're gonna live happily ever after. Sadly, thats never the case. Fall in love with the person who makes you laugh. Or else try eenie meenie mynie mo. Sigh. Life goes on. :) Cheerz.

yep, you and rosie_123 share the same opinion and yep, i'd have to agree... humor is important. one lifetime is a loooong time and a lot could happen. it would be nice to have someone to laugh with during the direst of situations in life to make things ok.

You just have to trust your instincts . If you love someone it is a powerful feeling that can be felt everytime you are together or when you think about the other person . You have to have some time to get to know each other as when you first meet , people tend to try and make everything perfect when this is who only an act to impress the other person . As time wears on you find out who the person really is and then you can determine how you really feel about that person .
